Also... we as a species have not mastered nonviolent communication. I teach preschool, and it's really hard to teach about kindness and sharing when a large fraction of adults are not setting a good example.

The same people who are upset about declining birth rates are the same people who are contributing to life being a living Hell right now.

Abundant love, good materials, good experiences, good lessons, plenty of rest and nourishment... These things are in short supply for a lot of children nowadays.
We are all doing our best despite this. The world is a shit show currently and it's no wonder we aren't enthusiastically having babies!

I was also very lucky to grow up near Busch Gardens Williamsburg. I theorize my balance is so good because I was literally riding rollercoasters with my grandma and building a strong equilibrium. I am SO calibrated now. That, and my Papa used to take me walking in the woods.

My childhood was full of nature, art supplies, and edutainment PC games and Neopets. I also had a wonderful collection of movies and shows, which I continue to maintain.
Also, wonder-inspiring vintage hand-me-down toys sparked my love of history and defunct entertainment.

If I were to have kids, I'd need a good size property with my own forest and a place to cultivate a lovely garden for playing in and fetching snacks from. Children (and all humans, really) need a proper habitat. Any child of mine requires trees and rocks to climb, fuzzy moss to touch, etc.

5. Screens and advertising is too pervasive and invasive. Commercials and AI slop and data mining are ruining the human experience.

6. Diminished places to escape advertising. Diminished natural and green spaces. These are essential to childhood and human joy.

LRP, I wish I could have children, but it's simply a bad idea.

1. Too expensive

2. Not enough time or energy right now due to poor work/life balance

3. Not enough maternity AND paternity leave (ideally we would be paid to care for our children for the first two years)
