Years ago, I decided to start saying having a good day to cashiers etc even though I had previously thought it was an insincere thing Americans did. I saw people’s faces change and light up as someone was acknowledging them and their life beyond serving people at a till. Forgive me, Yanks.

I get that it’s clickbait but it’s a wretched thing to say when these workers have to deal with all sorts of rude bastards daily.
