A shallow stream winds through a wet subalpine meadow of golden-green grasses and low shrubs, with flat rocks along the banks. Scattered conifers dot the valley floor and climb the rocky slopes to the right. In the background, steep pale granite rises toward a broad, flat-topped peak, the whole scene softened by hazy diffuse light from wildfire smoke.
The trees said "we live here" and the granite said "we've been here longer" and the stream said nothing, and just kept going.
