Wife and I do intermittent care for an elderly family member, some things I’ve observed:

Consistency is extremely important.

Plan for “bad” days after any major activity or breaking of routine.

If they struggle with bathroom time, be prepared for a lot of UTIs and they may cause hallucinations.
