Did the video get deleted for now? I saw there may have been an error with the blurring.

$50k+ for a product that is destroying a habitable climate, that immediately loses value, that is so poorly designed that even a low speed small fender bender now runs in the thousands of dollars to fix, that comes with high and increasing energy and insurance rates...

can't imagine why

While cars are obviously a hamper on the individual's wallet, I'm sick of it being framed as only that.

Why not make cars more affordable, and then everything is okay?

The answer is that they drain our collective wallets too. They spread our infrastructure thin, and then shatter our city budgets.

As always, Uytae is a gem, making approachable videos that help explain some of the causes of the housing crisis. Highly recommend to watch if you haven’t yet!

Let’s talk a bit more about development costs, Vancouver in particular. Because we do some things right, and other things horribly wrong.

Hi, we're More Homes Canada, an umbrella group for housing orgs across the country. We want to build more homes because everyone deserves a safe, affordable place to live.

Regressive infrastructure in Kensington! #yyc #unsprawling
youtube.com/shorts/fvQS5...

Why did we downgrade an intersection right near a train station with beg buttons?

This is inconvenient, and dangerous for the folks who move through here.

Thanks for the callout!

On the one hand, banning right on red is a proven way to save lives and reduce injuries. On the other hand, drivers are delayed by a few seconds. So it’s impossible to say if it’s good or not.

Winter? That’s still biking season! With the right prep, the ride goes on. Thanks to @albertaecotrust, we’re diving into the wonders (and woes) of winter biking. Our refurbished fleet, now with studded tires from @bpcyclesports, is ready for action. Here’s YER staff testing them in Fish Creek Park!

2. Area councillor Andre Chabot says he’ll look into how the city can make this intersection safer… yet should already know this intersection is planned for 5A Network improvements. This would narrow the street and promote slower driving speeds but no mention of it.
