Except Dedra was actually one of the few competent people in the Empire. One of the big takeaways for me in Andor is the idea that fascism is not a meritocracy.

I have a friend so is an aspiring write (i.e. without an established workflow) who has Claude read his work in progress to check for things like continuity errors and consistency of tone. This seems to me like a valid use of AI for writing, but I'd be interested in your opinion of that.

I’ve always thought it is the latter (for me, that is. For you I cannot say)

Was it you that linked to the article a while ago pointing out that Patrick Stewart exists in the ST:TNG timeline based on a book (works of Shakespeare I think) in his ready room that has Sir Patrick’s photo in it?

And we're off! My most favourite telescope, the Vera Rubin Observatory, has turned on its public alert stream and boy, were there a lot of changes in the Universe last night. More coming: ~7 million a night 😮: exploding stars, belching black holes, asteroids cruising through the solar system. 🤗🔭🧪

on the balance i think partisan gerrymandering is bad but the only way it ends is if democrats weaponize it against republicans everywhere they can. wiping out republican lawmakers in blue states might bring the GOP to the table to end the practice.

Clojure and indeed all lisp style languages are the final boss of density here though. Almost every line is an expression of business logic. I never really got into it myself, but looking at these results are starting to make me rethink that decision.

If you compare Clojure (77.91%) to C# (58.4%), it seems the average C# developer writes 20% more redundant code every single day just to satisfy the compiler. Even with tools like resharper and LLM’s to help thats not a insignificant amount of effort.

The developer of a code counting tool ranked popular proglangs by density. I am not surprised that "according to the data, if you want the highest ratio of human thought to keystrokes, the winner is the 60 year old concept, Lisp running as a modern JVM language Clojure."

I’ve said before that Trump is the perfect distillation of everyone you hated in high school whereas Vance is the perfect distillation of everyone you hated in college.

Vance’s problem is that high school assholes will never identify with college assholes.

Placing a layer of algorithmic recommendation on speech does not make speech less free, but it does pervert it.

Algorithmic mediation turns speech into a resource extracted from human behavior.

Platforms do not value speech because it is protected, they value the service it provides them.

How Portishead Sampled Themselves to Make a Genre Defining Album YouTube video by El Train | Loop Kitchen

Portishead's Dummy is one of my top ten albums of all time. I am so lucky I discovered it early, when I am usually late to the party on everything (see: The Warning).

If you love it like I do, you'll enjoy this video.
