Do people ever ask themselves, why, on this beautiful planet, they are spending time defending a system where 12 billionaires have the same amount of wealth as 4.5 billion people

Today's calculation: how long does a satellite in a circular orbit stay up when it stops all reboost burns? Depends on a lot of things, especially solar activity, but let's average over all of that and do a Kaplan-Meier analysis in 50 km height bins on 69 years of actual data.

This Company Is Secretly Turning Your Zoom Meetings into AI Podcasts WebinarTV hosts 200,000 “webinars.” A Zoom call you may thought was private might be one of them.

This company is scraping your Zoom meetings and turning them into AI podcasts without permission. Extremely wild and weird www.404media.co/this-company...

It is a sobering thought that, if Starlink launches stopped today, the entire constellation would cease to exist in 5 years time.

One lap and then it starts again. On March 13, at 10:35 a.m., amidst the waves, Arthur (not his real name), a young officer in the French Navy, was out for a run, circling the deck of the ship where he worked. To record his performance
— a little over 7 kilometers covered in thirty-five minutes-he used the smartwatch on his wrist. The data collected was then uploaded to the internet.
Because Arthur has a profile on the sports app Strava, and it's "public": anyone can view it.
The young man has therefore just reported, almost live, the exact position in the Mediterranean Sea of the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle and its escort, northwest of Cyprus and about a hundred kilometers from the Turkish coast, as Le Monde has observed .

LLMs are actually the perfect technology for American business society at the moment: a tireless sycophantic yes man that confidently hallucinates whatever horse shit your friendless soul-void craves? Obviously this was always going to be a hit with American executives

A partial screenshot of a formal letter on Albert Sellars LLP letterhead dated July 8, 2025, addressed to Ian Phua of Cloud Innovation Ltd in Seychelles. The sender is Kendra Albert, a partner at Albert Sellars LLP. The letter responds to a July 2 demand titled “DEMAND FOR IMMEDIATE REMOVAL OF DEFAMATORY ARTICLE AND CESSATION OF FURTHER DISTRIBUTION.” Albert notes the firm represents Dr. Joseph Lorenzo Hall. The letter critiques the July 2 demand for being vague and overly urgent, suggesting it appears intended to intimidate rather than raise legitimate legal concerns.

The IRS Tax Filing Software TurboTax Is Trying to Kill Just Got Open Sourced Direct File has been open sourced, and its creators have left government to continue working on the "future of tax filing."

Here's one of the most important lessons from the creation of Direct File, IMHO: for a high-priority software project, an agency needs to protect a space for an Agile team to work in a user-centered, incremental way, damn the agency norms. A lot of people fought to protect that team, and it worked.
