Could someone please explain why no school?

Congratulations!
And they’re trying to get revenge on the (mostly female) teachers who expected them to meet basic standards of decency when they were kids.
Looks like a professor? So old white dude with elbow patches on his jacket? FFS.
Schrodinger’s Douchebag
Holy shit, my orchestra is playing Mahler 2 next season!
Same.
I just finished it today! I was following along with the Secret Life of Books podcast. They put out an episode on each section every two weeks.
Professor in music school whose class was hard to do well in without going in for one on one coaching. Women were quietly warned not to go alone. Very few women in that specialty and an assumption that women just weren’t as good at it.
Don’t tell Studio Ghibli that movies about girls don’t succeed.
My son watched it with his buddies at his 13th birthday party and they all loved it.
Condolences.
I spent many days chaperoning students at regional festivals there. When I walked out in the afternoon the sun burned my eyes like I was a mole-person.
The rehearsal rooms are even uglier.
UMass?
Holy shit.
Would read. I doubt these particular guys would like the ending of a mantisy book.
I wish they could give classroom teachers the highlights of what we actually need to do to support the student. I got one that failed to mention the student used a wheelchair, so I didn’t know I needed to rearrange my room.
When I get a stack of 20 IEPs the day before school starts I spend a lot of time wondering what the student’s challenges are and what I need to do about it. Knowing that they’re a well liked kid who likes baseball is nice, but I really need to know he needs speech to text.
She’s 86 and she did a 2 hr show with no intermission, never left the stage.
Schenectady Saratoga Symphony (upstate NY.) She was incredibly nice to and appreciative of the musicians, which was lovely. I was expecting us to be the nameless, faceless orchestra of the day but she went out of her way to connect with us.
My orchestra played with her a few weeks ago (it was an amazing experience) and she told a story about how her friend convinced her to meet with Cohen and she really didn’t feel like it, but when she saw him she decided he was so hot she didn’t care if he could write or not.
Hearing the Indigo Girls on the radio in middle school when all of my friends were obsessed with New Kids on the Block gave me hope that maybe I wouldn’t be in middle school hell forever.
I heard Beck’s “Loser” for the first time at my senior prom and cornered the DJ to find out what and who it was.
Teachers are not making these decisions. They don’t care what we think.
The boat scene alone.
Fair point.
Dispensaries should have teacher appreciation week gift baskets and the ones for middle school teachers should have a little extra.
Grandpa Joe is the villain in Willy Wonka. Stayed in bed for 20 years while Charlie’s mom ran herself into the ground? Didn’t even help do the dishes but could get up and do a jig when Charlie picked him over his long suffering mom? What an asshole.
