(It's not actually five pounds of soap, it just feels like it after a long day of carrying it around at the faire. It's actually closer to 1.5 pounds. Which is, honestly, still a fair amount of soap.)
Here's what you're gonna do:
-Go to your local Ren Faire.
-Go to the local soap people.
-Spend $45 on soap.
Is that a lot of money for soap? Maybe. Will it last you a year because it's five lbs of high-quality soap? You betcha.
Had jury duty for the first time today, and I gotta tell y'all...the lawyers start setting up the narrative right from the jury exclusion questions.
I didn't get picked, but I came away with a strong impression of the case based on no actual evidence.
If it's not a bug, it's a shitty feature.
A new carniceria/panaderia opened next to my comic shop. So for #NCBD I picked up Venom, Inglorious X-Force, a concha, a pound of al pastor, and some bulk duritos. So, you know, highlight of the week.

Dan Mora's variant cover for JUSTICE LEAGUE INTERGALACTIC, by Jadzia Axelrod, Nicole Maines, Travis Moore, Tamra Bonvillain, and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou.
GALAXY: AS THE WORLD FALLS DOWN by Jadzia Axelrod, Rye Hickman and Jodie Troutman
We have just *two weeks* until the release of JUSTICE LEAGUE INTERGALACTIC SPECIAL and only *three weeks* until the release of GALAXY: AS THE WORLD FALLS DOWN!!!!
A femme presenting person in a black t-shirt. They're wearing heart shaped sunglasses with rose good rims. The arm parts are chains.
Heart shaped sunglasses. The side arm have been replaced by chains.
My favorite garb build for Renn Faire is my chain sunglasses. When I saw this heart-shaped pair late last year, I knew they'd be my next pair when I was ready for a change. #crafts #costuming
Then, suddenly, you're shuffling your complete expanded set of Arkham Horror around and you realize "this game is not nearly as mechanically difficult as it seems, when you drill down on it. It's just big." And your whole perspective on board games shifts.
Cleaned up our #boardgame shelves this weekend. Tried to reorganize by "complexity," and, I gotta say, that's more of a head-scratcher than you realize, at first.
Settled on "How difficult would this be to explain to someone who doesn't play games?"
I'm one of those trans women. I worked ground ops for Artemis I.
I am torn between celebrating the success of my friends and peers and grieving how my dream of working for NASA was shattered by hateful assholes in Tallahassee
Watching movie: self-proclaimed luddite gets technical implant after accident.
"Alright. Cool, I guess. Pretty standard bio-sci-horror fair."
Implant starts talking to main character.
"YEAH, BABY LET'S GO!"
The Moon: oh wow you guys decided to come back
Artemis II crew: earth’s haunted
Y'all are gonna either love this or hate this. That's what makes the take so HOT and JUICY.

The Archive of Our Own logo. Where it normally says "beta" it now says "omega."
In case you hadn't seen the AO3 April Fools gag, yet.
Gentle reminder on this day: saying things like "we are all immigrants (except natives)" actually erases important amounts of American history.
There are a lot of people who are not native whose ancestors never immigrated to the US.
I think it's actually essential to children's moral development to be exposed to short stories moderately beyond their reading level where a bunch of fucked up shit happens and then instead of offering a moral lesson or any sort of emotional or narrative resolution it just ends.
What a fab group to be a part of. Fun fact:
My story "Pareidolia" is, technically, a perfomance piece turned text. It was crafted by transcribing myself improvising to an outline.
You'll understand when you read it.

Headline from “The Hard Times”: impending Civil War Delayed by 2026 Weird Al Tour
Three panel comic. (SPOILERS for the movie Arrival, but it’s like a decade old at this point so personally I think it’s chill.) Panel 1: the aliens from arrival are communicating in their circle writing language to Amy Adams’ character. Panel 2: Amy Adams is back with the other humans, standing in front of a whiteboard, and frantically trying to explain the meaning of their language, connecting their symbols to words like “WAR”, “HUMAN”, “PURPOSE”, etc. Panel 3: the aliens are hanging out drinking brews and one of them is like, “and then I drew a circle with a bunch of squiggles!” His buddies are cracking up.
Arrival
Reddit is algo-serving me the Project Hail Mary subreddit.
And while everyone should feel comfortable critiquing art, I'm getting the strong sense that a lot of these readers either don't understand how movies work or have never (knowlingly) seen a screen adaptation before.
Yes.
Longer answer: People in my sci-fi reading groups have been talking about it more since then, too. I was like "what is the uptick, all of a sudden?" And it was Amazing Digital Circus.
It happened again today.
Also, I feel like I might be the only Spider-Man reader who doesn't outright hate Paul Rabin. But watching him get clowned on by multiple Marvel writers over the past year or so has kind of become my favorite running gag.
2nd standout:
Blind Date (Punisher/Power Girl)
Simone, Ortega, Bellaire, Gattoni
I never thought I'd think of a Punisher comic as "adorable" but it was...dare I say...cute?! The dual inner monologue with Kara and Frank was *chef's kiss*.
First standout from the cross-over:
Jimmy con Carnage
I knew the creative team (Fraction, Lieber, Fairbarn, Cowles) was gonna be a personal slam dunk. It's a charming vignette with a delightfully weird combo of characters. There's a camera lens panel that I adore for its simplicity.
The comics described in the post splayed out on a table.
#NCBD being Wednesday is a blessing and a curse. Great midweek pick-me-up, but I typically can't sit and read right away. Good way to finish the day, though.
This week:
Fantastic Four
Knull
Amazing Spider-Man
Superman/Spider-Man
Wiccan: Witches Road
