uh oh there’s a whole store that only sells stuff that will make birds come over to your house and the people at the bird feeder store are very friendly, i think the birds are paying them off

It says an enormous amount about the Royal Navy in the late Victorian period that they could essentially build HMS "Fuck That One Ship In Particular" as and when required.
Thank you so much I’m now up to 1600 of the 2100 I need, you all are the best❤️❤️❤️
Here is a summery shot of a Yellow-headed Blackbird in a sea of sunflowers for you.
That’s a better summation than I could come up with!
Always liked fencing (though I lack the everything to do it well). I’m cool with the debut of this technology, it can be hard to see otherwise. I sure hope there’s nothing controversial about a new league/association. Those always make me nervous a bit for some reason.
She is good people, known her online for years. Having a working car would likely contribute to quality birb content.
Professor Xavier is calling in a favor you owe him and is asking if you can teach one summer course to the kids at the institute in a subject of your own choosing or you can spin something new. It can be on any topic he just wants to give them a break from mutant courses. What are you doing?
Tweet from Mark Ames @MarkAmesExiled qoute tweeting @DropSiteNews Mark's post reads: Reagan's response to the 1983 Marines barracks bombing in Beirut was to invade Granada to cover for the humiliating withdrawl. the original Drop Site tweet reads: NEWS: The Trump administration has quietly directed Pentagon officials and other U.S. government agencies to step up preparations for possible military operations against Cuba, according to two sources familiar with the situation and a third person briefed on it, Zeteo reported on Tuesday. The directive came direction from the White House, according to the report by Asawin Suebsaeng and Andrew Perez. Trump has publicly threatened Cuba on multiple occasions in recent weeks, including Monday when he said "we may stop by Cuba after we're finished with this" – a reference to the ongoing U.S. -Israeli war on Iran.
All eyes on Cuba:
I respect that kind of long term commitment.
I’m not saying it’s perfect or easy but I really feel we have crossed a significant bridge when it comes to gaming on Linux.
An opened gate on to the underside of a bridge under a highway and over a large river. The sign says no trespassing, though it doesn’t seem to have much impact
I think this counts as liminal space. I just took this photo under the hwy 1 bridge over the Fraser River here in Hope BC. I had popped down here for a quiet spot to eat a late lunch.
Holy SHIT someone found the test pressing of Robert Johnson's Cross Road Blues and it is clear as a PIN www.openculture.com/2026/04/reco...
ok flip the sign back over guys
Incredible clarity.
This man changed music. It feels like he's right beside you.
I am about as big a techie nerd as you can make. This sums up my perspective exactly. SHOW me your tech is useful and I’ll almost certainly latch on. TELL me it’s useful while demonstrating it’s absolute dogshit and I’ll eviscerate it.
A flatscreen display on a "smart" water fountain, demanding to be reconnected to the internet.
In 1999, I was playing a decker in Shadowrun, and tried to distract a guard by hacking a water fountain to overflow, and my GM said "why would a water fountain be on the network? That's fucking stupid. No you can't try."
Well it's 2026 and I just want you to know, Phil, that I FUCKING CALLED IT!
Fresh snow tops a massive landslide that happened back in 1965. A sizeable scar of rock and debris lasts to this day.
Winter is not completely done with us yet, even in SW BC. I drove up to the Hope Slide to eat my breakfast sammich in solitude without cell signal, and there was fresh snow at the top of the slide.
"Captain, the insurance underwriters just called, they will not accept LEEEEROY JENKINSSS as a risk management strategy."
In 1759, a French invasion fleet bound for the UK prepared to shelter from a huge winter storm in the Bay of Biscay.
Riding into attack on the edge of that storm was a Royal Navy fleet under Admiral Hawke.
On the pod, @drachinifel.bsky.social look at a gloriously batshit naval battle we both love.
we know
Personally knowing a fisherman who was killed by a grizzly bear (not in this area obviously) does impact a little.
But that’s the breaks. We are on their turf. It can happen. So yes, good thing overall.
As someone who cares about this sort of thing, I’m absolutely for it.
As someone who fishes in these specific waterways part of me just recoiled and thought “something else to keep an eye out for? The cougars aren’t enough?”
Maxmaxxing is a scam by big big to sell you more more
Was a huge Clannad fan in high school. RIP, Ms. Brennan.
Beep boop
In retrospect the first adult catholic convert Vice President of the United States picking a fight with the first American Pope should have been the most foreseen thing ever.
I have not laughed like that listening to a podcast in a very long time. Let alone for a history podcast. I had to pull over while driving to catch a breath. The bard bit damn near did me in.
Thanks for reaching out! And yeah, if folks hear things in comas, he heard music that reminded him so much of growing up and messing around in boats in Dover UK, he always commented fondly on it when I would play TLJ on fishing trips. So thanks to the band for that :)
Dad knew the poem by heart though. Same with their version of the Mingulay Boat Song, as he knew that song (and many others) by heart as well... but for all of that, and in it's own way because of that, I'm looking forward to getting my shanty on.
Got tickets for the Vancouver show. Saw @thelongestjohns.bsky.social once before in Seattle. Much shanty, very sing. Though there is a sad memory there too: I played their version of "Crossing the bar" for my dad as he was on his way out of this mortal plane last year. He was fond of their version.
