Thank you for sharing one of our favorite poems. My husband & I first encountered it a few years ago in the NYT magazine, where they published a poem each Sunday. They stopped that weekly gift to readers, alas, but the clipped-out poem is still taped to our fridge, giving us joy every day.

There’s a big parking lot right in front of the Museum with both general and “handicap” spaces. It’s free and no permits are required on Saturday.
If you’re in Central or Eastern Maine, come learn about Our Maine Fibershed on Saturday April 11, 10:30-12:30 at the Page Farm & Home Museum on the UMaine campus. Bring your spinning, knitting, or other fiber project and enjoy good company as we learn.

Those are stunning! Thanks for sharing and inspiring us to try something new and beautiful!
Ah. Authors still alive? Query re obtaining reprints? (Memories of many obscure searches speaking lol)
And a science reference librarian can be your friend for efficient, effective literature searches
Also, if you go to google scholar to start your search, you’re less likely to get the woowoo-cluttered results
If you put one space then -ai after your search term, you won’t get ai-generated response
Color photograph of the book, “Nature’s Acre: A Garden Memoir of Making a Place Where Life Grows,” by Ciarán De Buitléar. The book is lying on a lace-covered table. There’s a photo of a bright yellow sunflower centered on the book’s cover, with a small black, orange, and white butterfly, wings outspread, on it. In the background is another sunflower, blurred green foliage, a small patch of blue sky and a glimpse of the edge of a wooden building.
Look what arrived in Maine, USA today: Perfect reading as we wait for snow to depart the region and let us dig into our own garden season!

Stunning quilts, sweet bunny helper!
Already contacted our senators. It looks like this nomination might not even make it out of committee, given bipartisan distaste for her antivax status and questionable professional experience and credentials.
Beautiful!
Your range of colors is lovely, and the way you incorporated them into the cardigan design is so striking!
Handsome sweater! Thanks for sharing!
It was a great event! We’d gone to our small community rally in person in the morning, but weren’t physically able to handle the big march downtown, so were grateful for the SUFS virtual community event!❤️
#StandUpForScience held a virtual rally this afternoon specifically for those unable to attend one in person. In addition to addressing other critical issues, it had a special focus on disability justice, with lots of inspiring & energizing speakers. So glad we joined the event’s ~8000 attendees!
Roman is a great batter & fielder! Love that this was his first MLB opening day, and as top of the line-up he got a base hit off the game’s first pitch. Young kid setting the tone!
Stunning! Thanks for sharing!
Contacted both. In addition advocating violence and failing to decry unlawful deployment & actions of ICE, Mullin is an election denier & profits from trading stock in companies doing business w/ government. Worse, he’s guilty of stolen valor, implying service in combat & covert operations. Unfit.
Aside from the (deliberate) failure to assign a WH staffer simply to check shoe sizes, no one has commented on the actual insult implied by gifting Florsheims to cabinet members: “You can’t put Gucci shoes on Florsheim feet.” Again shows he’s cheap & thinks (rightly?) his team unworthy of respect
Color photograph of a postcard to get out the vote for Judge Chris Taylor in the Wisconsin Supreme Court election. The card is pale blue with the message handprinted in colorful inks. It gives information about voting and reasons to support Judge Taylor.
It’s better to light one little candle than to curse the darkness, and many little candles make a powerful light.
We are lighting candles: Writing #PostcardsToVoters to get out the vote & get good people elected at every level of government all across the country.

Thank you for sharing this. It’s a poem I carry in my pocket, to take out and re-read in times like these.
Yarn first! It tells me what it wants to be, so then I go and find a pattern it likes.
Would it be possible to distribute your book in the U.S. through #bookshop.org for those of us who won’t order from the big “A”? #Bookshop.org supports independent booksellers.
I live in Maine and our state bird is the chickadee, a designation that irks birders aware that we have both black-capped and boreal chickadees here. Now and then the state legislature considers choosing one species or the other, but after years they still haven’t decided.
Our yard has black-capped.
It is a moral injury, and it’s in a context where hate, cruelty, willful ignorance, and greed envelop us in a toxic fog. But it’s the people who love - love their neighbors, their work, this world - who will never be beaten down. Rest, breathe: Your work will always be a love letter to the planet.
Thanks for sharing your piece—a lovely tribute to a beautiful talent. His music will always be an inspiration.
Color photo of a hardcover book: “Birds in Winter: Surviving the Most Challenging Season” by Roger F. Pasquier, Princeton University Press, 2019. The dust jacket of the book is sky blue with the photo of a bird — a red crossbill — perched on a slender, snowy branch. The main title and author’s name are in white letters, and the subtitle is in yellow italic lettering.
Respite reading for a snowy day in Maine

Thanks for the helpful tips about the Melt the Ice (aka Norwegian vintage nazi resistance) hat. I’m working one in fingering weight and the circumference looks fine, but the crown will definitely be too shallow without those plain knit rows inserted between decrease rows.🧶
There’s nothing like the smell & feel of a real book in your hands or the comfort of being in a real bookstore. If you can’t get into bookshops as often as you like, the next best thing is bookshop dot org, a consortium of indies, where you can select a real shop to profit from your online order📚
