This shows that even though a regime change might change return aspirations, it does not necessarily lead to a readiness to return.

Syrians who were interviewed after the regime change were more likely to report temporary settlement intentions in Germany, more likely to report emigration aspirations and expressed uncertainty about their future in Germany.

However, we do not find any effects on concrete emigration plans.
