And I do agree the other stuff is important too, but we just saw a massive cut to library funding the other day. So when that happens at the same time as AI investments, and our education system is already in shambles, it's not a good look

Libraries are part of public education and will only see their usage go down with less funding. This is like arguing trains don't make sense to invest in because we haven't invested in them enough for them to be useful so far. Libraries are for more than just books

We can get sovereignty over our data and regulation on AI without investing stupid amounts of money in what is essentially the next .com bubble. This stuff may look good on the surface but if you take a step back you'll realize that there are better ways of doing things which are not being chosen

It's pretty ironic to be saying this when Carney's just been doing shit out of MAGA's playbook. Open your eyes. He took money from libraries and invested it in AI. This is not a "great leader", this is a capitalist servant.

If you want to create certainty for Canadians, taking money away from libraries to invest in AI sounds like a fucking terrible plan. Investing in the AI bubble is literally the definition of uncertainty.

If you wanna build a strong economy maybe don't take money from libraries and reallocate it to AI investments?
