After I take my break, really the first thing I need to do is add a more linear experience tutorial. Kinda forgot to add that to the previous list, but its priority #1 !!!

I only hope I get the chance to do so. After my break I will look into options for publishers and funding. This would also be an opportunity to pay artists to replace the free art assets I have been using so far.

In truth, I'm a bit disappointed with the current balance of the game. I made tweaks after the playtest, but there are core issues that can only be resolved after I add new features & mechanics. In the next update, most of the cards will be completely reworked or replaced.

When I learned I got accepted to Playtest Planet, I had maybe 10 cards in the game. In two weeks I added 5x that many. There was no way to truly balance it all in such a short time.

If TorchBear ever becomes a full game, I would like it to include:
- Path choices (more Hades than StS)
- Unique event rooms
- Relics
- New torch elements (fire, _______, _____)
- 3 characters with dif decks/abilities (grizzly, polar, & sun bear)
- (hopefully) 3 secret unlockable characters

Now that v0.3 is out, I'm gonna take a break for awhile, but I want to talk a little about plans for TorchBear. This version is just as much a prototype as v0.2, with many compromises made just to get it out there.

This version of TorchBear was made for Playtest Planet 2025, organized by Night City games here in Chicago. I'm so grateful to the organizers, players, and fellow developers I met at the event! I got a lot of great feedback, and hope I get to continue improving upon this game for the future.

To do list of features, that may come with this upcoming upload or the one after:
- A more scripted, linear tutorial experience
- Enemy tooltips
- Improved symbol language
- Complex cards become unlockable (to not overcomplicate the early game)

After some bug and balance fixing, I'll be uploading this latest version of TorchBear.

A bit late, but I want to thank everyone who came and played TorchBear at Playtest Planet! I had a blast, got a lot of great feedback, and am happy to know people are interested in the game. Night City were excellent hosts, I hope I get the chance to attend more events

A screenshot of v0.1 of TorchBear, a digital card game. There is a bear holding a torch in its mouth, and some monsters on a grid. The background is a tilemap of ugly green and sandy tiles.

I met @arithetonberry.bsky.social at a local art booth festival here in Chicago and I'm really glad I did. It was a real pleasure working together with him, hope I get the chance to again

Just look at this glow up! 😍🐻🔥
