The cover of Automatic Noodle by Annaler Newitz. Features orange and yellow and pink noodles being pulled up by chopsticks held by a robot hand with a cityscape for San Francisco and three main character robots featured on the edges.
Maybe my favorite book Ive read this year. Automatic Noodle by @annaleen.bsky.social is so beautiful. Gorgeous food descriptions, a fascinating world to explore, and all in a fleet 160 pages. Definitely worth your time!
It's rare that a big swing at the deadline can be both successful and not improve the team's postseason hopes much. The offense is still too inconsistent, because Jose Altuve and Yainer Diaz have fallen off a cliff and Cam Smith has fallen into the Mariana Trench.
Wednesday morning random thoughts: The Carlos Correa trade, improbably, has worked! He's the third or fourth best hitter on the Astros since Aug. 1. By and large, all three trades at the deadline worked.
Yet, the team is still snakebitten and injury prone. New calamities befall them every other day
I did see that. Kalas tried to use his phones AI to see which 3,000 hit club member didn't have a five hit game. It told him Musial, which was wrong.
Lemon spaghetti with roasted artichokes and basil leaves on top
Happy with how dinner came out tonight. Lemon spaghetti with roasted artichokes. Super simple recipe from NYT Cooking.
This is such a fantastic thread! Love the idea and execution
Chickadees and titmice. Let's hear it for the adorable little guys. 😻
They also just called Jhostynxon Garcia "The Password" which is just delightful
Its an excellent day for Remembering Some Guys. Nabil Crismett, Chadwick Tromp, Seby Zavala are also on the All Name Team.
A view of the Polar Park field at a minor league baseball game between the Woo Sox and Iron Pigs.
A lovely afternoon for a baseball game! Woo Sox and Iron Pigs are both top tier minor league names.
Better Call Saul
The Good Place
Chernobyl
That second point is one I immediately thought of. No rentals so far.
It's okay, they'll just move him to left field.

This was much harder than it should be. How can you pick one engineer?? And one doctor?
Nice
Could you imagine two MLB teams having to play in a Triple-A stadium all year after that?
10 writers of whom I have read 5 or more books
Anne McCaffrey, John Scalzi, Chuck Wendig, Michael Crichton, Ian Fleming, David Halberstam, George Martin, Fonda Lee, Martha Wells, Alan Sepinwall.
You're going for the Gusto, I take it
I feel like it would be more frustrating if I hadn't read the books. Knowing roughly where the story had to go let's me enjoy what they're doing without worrying about narrative
Tea towel featuring USPS postal boxes with state bird designs- birds other than the iconic eagle.
A USPS logo for every state bird!! 🐦✉️
Sounds like a southern grandfather nickname.
"Get ready, we're going to see Gma and Pope Pope."
I was thinking of those Million Dollar infields as a possible answer.
Also cannot say enough good things about @gibsonsbookstore.bsky.social. Second event I've been to there this year. The space is warm. The crowd has always been good. Independent bookstores! Can't beat em.
I love Chucks books. But I also really admire the way he thinks about writing. It's always smart, nuanced, and makes me consider new ways to be a better writer.
