Being able to craft an entire deck that is functional & competitive from one entire set is a big selling aspect that I greatly overlooked.
Is it Tier 1 Lessons? Not by a long shot. Is it FNM playable? Hell yeah it is! A little Prowess/Lessons matter action!
Now I've been an advocate of block sets coming back for a while, but I have to admit when I'm wrong about things.
Since he only wanted Avatar cards - we bought all the Lessons package, some Gran-Grans, some of his favorite characters (to collect) & Dragonfly Swarm for...$11!
He opened a bunch & loved the "Wan Shi Tong card" (not the Creature, Accumulate Wisdom) as well as Sokka, Bold Boomeranger. He wanted to finish a deck, so we went back!
I convinced him to let me help with buying Singles instead of just packs (to reduce his spending)
On this trip, my cousin who has never played Magic expressed interest in getting enough Avatar cards to build a deck to play super casually. He didn't care for Commander, and wanted to play something like Standard.
So we went to an LGS & got him some packs
Also screw wealthy CEO’s and corporations laying off the very people that made them wildly successful, just for short term gains.
Folks with institutional knowledge, with decades of work, dedication and success all dismissed.
For what? Who knows but it’ll make a great bonus for an exec.

I got rejected for a Creator Badge for MagicCon Amsterdam - which makes sense to me! I'm an NA Creator after all.
