Middle age is being exhausted from a fun spring break with the kid, fighting strep, and both parents in the ER over the weekend (luckily doing better).

I believe he was teleported to Waffle House. Thats the only location I would believe.
Why does every video podcast record in what looks like a WeWork? Why must Amy Poehler look as though she’s the founder of a crypto longevity startup?
Visiting Australia. I will always be confused by how masculine the culture is here but also how every cafe order is basically, "I'll have the inkie binkie on toast"
It's a shower thought, but are like half of us really walking around disassociating into a device that has the icon for the fruit of the tree of knowledge etched into the back of it? Like, this is bad writing.
Everyone always wants to know why. Why, why, why? For once, how about we just focus on how. A gun. It's the guns.
Before the election, I pleaded with my Republican family members to just sit this one out because it was obvious how chaotic a Trump presidency would be. Obvious only to me, it turned out.
Unsolicited hot take: The Embarcadero should be more like NYC's west side highway: fewer stop lights, faster flow, still with plenty of ways to get over and enjoy the water but not a 24-hour traffic jam
Seeing a lot of new followers, but is anyone actually opening/using this? Hit like or comment for a sign of life, if you please.
This fight is everything about modern masculinity. An influencer challenging a senior citizen, with all the pomp of the real thing but none of the real work.
It’s nearly 2025, I don’t know what I want or need from strangers on a tech platform.
So far, my only engagement here has been from bots. So this really is an X clone?
In a better world, we would have done a full postmortem on Covid measures and maybe we'd be debating whether vaccine mandates helped or hurt. But instead, we've got Rawmilk Brainworm the Third coming in to be the worst person at the independent organic grocery store.
And then they would make sure they had projects in each of those 3 categories (and didn't just myopically focus on a single one).
Yet again, we live in unprecedented times. It's vital to take uncertainty seriously.
- Insurance policies: if the absolute worst did happen, what could we do now to be somewhat prepared?
- Big bets: what could we do, if we really leaned into it, that might shape the future in our favor?
- No regrets: what's something smart we should do no matter what happens next?
We also learned that, after they scanned the horizon for trends and forces, they would bucket their strategies into three categories:
But, it did help them avoid being trapped by the present. It opened executives' minds about what could happen, and that helped the organization stay more nimble.
One thing we learned is that, in all the years Shell did highly structured and rigorous scenario planning, not a single idea that came out of the process blew up. There was no big bang. Scenario planning didn't help them predict the future.
A couple years ago, we spoke to the folks who invented scenario planning at Shell and we learned a bunch from those conversations and applied it to the strategy work we were facilitating with our clients.
No regrets. Big bets. And Insurance Policies. That's how you should be splintering your strategy right now amidst uncertainty. But let me back up ...
I had a moment with mine when I realized, "Oh, God, you're having to talk about the election all day, every day, and only make space for other people to have feelings about it."
“Stand goal achieved” … other people read that in a sarcastic tone, right? Not just me?
Me and my podcast queue right now.
I need an Escape from New York reboot with Norman Reedus
Three seasons in, I’m not sure From is actually an ok show, but I’ve invested too much time to get out now. From is the timeshare of tv shows.
I’m in a comfy situation, so I know I’m lucky. But I’m honestly excited by the prospect of redefining the Democratic Party (as a big, inclusive, messy process). And the threat of Trump creates the urgency we need.
