Freedom of expression must not become a right to harass or intimidate Protests in predominantly Jewish residential areas are a reminder that we need bylaws to address intimidation, while still protecting speech

My Globe op-ed on the “protests” in residential neighbourhoods that are not aimed at a government office, institution, public event, or high-profile personality. Rather they seek to harass or intimidate individuals based on their religion or political beliefs.

An excellent post today from CanLII Chair @adodek.bsky.social and CEO Francis Barragan on the many roles CanLII plays to support the Rule of Law. I don't think many Canadians appreciate how lucky we are to have open access primary law; or to have CanLII itself.

Canada's top court is considering offering mediation. Some are wondering: why? The Supreme Court of Canada is considering offering mediation services for cases it does not hear, raising eyebrows among court watchers.

Canada's Supreme Court is considering offering mediation services for cases it does not accept to hear.
I spoke to a dozen lawyers, judges and court watchers who almost all agreed: interesting idea, but why?
