We have been learning about farms 🚜🐄
We explored non-fiction texts and created our own fact files about animals on the farm. We learned about what they eat and where they live. Fantastic learning P1💜

We have been exploring patterns 🔵🔺
We used different materials to continue patterns, find the missing item, and create our own patterns. Fantastic thinking and creativity🌟

Today we have been learning to double numbers to 5 and beyond 🔢✨
We played a game called Flip and Double, where we used our mental maths to work out the doubles. Great thinking and number skills from everyone🌟

Today in P1 we explored Chinese New Year 🧧✨
We learned that it is the Year of the Horse and discovered that the colour red brings good luck in China. We then created our own Chinese-inspired lanterns, they look fantastic! 🏮🌟

Just a reminder that tomorrow is a dress down day for all children🥰

Our Parent Council have arranged a Dress Down Day for tomorrow.

We tasted different Scottish foods to celebrate Burns Day, we described the Haggis as spicy and we weren’t the biggest fans of Neeps🤣 We then rated the foods out of 5, the shortbread was our favourite🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⭐️

We have been learning how to subtract ➖
We played Subtraction Smash, rolling the dice to take away numbers from 10 and then writing the number sentence. A fun and active way to build our maths skills! 🎲✏️

We have been learning about Scotland and discovered lots of interesting facts about the Kelpies 🐎
The children then used their creativity to make their own Kelpies using playdough, fantastic learning 🎨✨

This week we made sustainable reindeer dust ✨🦌
We had lots of fun making it and can’t wait to sprinkle it outside our houses on Christmas Eve to help guide Santa’s reindeer🎄💫

Today our buddies came to read us their Christmas picture books 🎄📚
We loved sharing stories together and spending time with our P7 buddies. Thank you so much P7 for making it such a special part of our day💜✨

Tomorrow is the P1 Christmas Party🎄✨

Your child can either:
– Go home for lunch at 12pm and return to school in their party clothes for 1pm.
– Stay for lunch at school and bring their party clothes with them.
- Wear their party clothes to school.

We can’t wait to party🎉

Today we made ginger salt dough decorations🎄✨
We followed the recipe carefully and made sure all our measurements were just right. We can’t wait to paint them and hang them on our Christmas tree🎨🌟

We had an amazing time on our Christmas adventure at Callendar House! 🎄✨
We helped Trixie and Cupid save Rudolph from Jack Frost, and the fun continued as the children got to decorate a Christmas tree! 🎁🌟

Tomorrow P1G are off on our Christmas Adventure! 🎄✨
We’ll be leaving school around 9:15am, so please arrive for 9:00am.

Children don’t need to bring anything, just make sure they’re wrapped up warm🧣🧤

🏙️✨ We’ve been exploring landmarks this week! The children created beautiful silhouette art by placing an outline of their favourite landmark, sponge-painting dots all around it, and then peeling it back for the big reveal. They look amazing🎨🖼️💛

📚✨ We’ve been consolidating our s, a, t, p, i, n sounds this week!
Today we played Tap, Tap, Read - sounding out and spelling words hidden in the cup. The children loved this game and showed amazing blending skills 🔤💡🤩

We learned about children’s rights and explored what international aid means. We discussed how organisations work together to lend a helping had. We drew pictures showing things they could give or do to help people in less economically developed countries and communities in need of support💛🌍

Today we created beautiful Bonfire pictures using salt art! We sprinkled salt onto our designs and added watercolour paints to bring them to life, the colours spread through the salt and looked just like fireworks in the night sky🎆🎇

Today we explored measurement by making playdough! 🎨👩‍🍳 We measured full and half cups to get the mix just right 🥣 Then we discussed how to fix it if it was too sticky or if we’d added too much flour, great problem-solving💡

We have had a fantastic #EuropeanDayofLanguages in P5P. We listened to stories in Greek and French, created presentations on national animals on Canva and continued learning a language of our own choice on Duolingo!👏 @missmcguckinbps.bsky.social
