It really is an easy drive! But you know what’s even easier? Getting on a train that’s actually 5 minutes from my house and being able to *work* or just relax or SLEEP on the way to NOLA.

We live in Mobile and can confirm: excitement for this service has been high YEARS. Everyone we know has now taken the trip or has plans to do so.

Oh girl, I have *been* there! Praying the Holy Spirit breathes inspiration over you and it’s better than you could imagine!

My favorite is that this persists into the teenage years. “Yes, friend of my teen, I actually very much *do* want to hear all about your HoCo dress/math test/ghat funny thing your teacher said! Please tell me all the things!”

Professional Christian here 👋 - not only do I *worry* - I feel the need to explain “once your candle is lit, hold it upright, and let neighbor with the unlit candle light theirs off yours or else you will drip wax on your hands and maybe your neighbor…”

And yes, I get burned at least once anyway.😂

My quote of the day

Compassion is sometimes the fatal capacity for feeling what it is like to live inside somebody else's skin. It is the knowledge that there can never really be any peace and joy for me until there is peace and joy finally for you too.

Rand Paul: "The reason we have trials & we don't automatically assume guilt is what if we make a mistake and they happen to be people fleeing the Venezuelan dictator? ... off our coast it isn't our policy just to blow people up ... even the worst people in our country, they still get a trial."

"Go to an old cemetery. See all the baby graves from before the 1950s & 60s? After that, hardly any. That's when people started vaccinating their children. If you're unsure what to do to protect your kids, the answer is literally written in stone." — Michael Okuda

May this portion of the dissent by Ketanji Brown Jackson haunt John Roberts forever and be the final word on his tenure as Chief Justice.

“For the growing good of the world is partly dependent on unhistoric acts; and that things are not so ill with you and me as they might have been, is half owing to the number who lived faithfully a hidden life, and rest in unvisited tombs.”

One of my favorite novels of all time!

And I have used this quote in a sermon more than once - it so perfectly encapsulates my theology of discipleship.

Good morning, beloved.

Prioritize peace for the people.

Today is a great day to overcome evil with good.

How lovely! And one of my favorites too - I love to sing verse 4 at the top of my lungs with the congregation! I simply cannot have any chill when singing this hymn. 😂

Good morning, beloved.

Don’t get tired of trying to do right.

Darkness can never extinguish light. It’s always the other way around.

Today is a great day to overcome evil with good.
