Figure Skating Stars Pay an Emotional Tribute to the D.C. Plane Crash Victims Spectators, heavy with grief, packed Capital One Arena for the skating benefit.

One of the most painfully beautiful tributes I've ever witnessed. There is another opportunity to watch this on Peacock on 3/30 if you didn't get a chance to see it last Sunday. If you aren't a fan of skating now, it will turn you into one.

I had a really interesting tour of the Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in the hour and a half I had to spare on this trip to Colorado for work and skating.

I Would Meet You Anywhere: A Memoir A memoir of one Japanese American adoptee’s experiences with her birth mother, love, family, and identity.

This week in our Writing Personhood class we have @thesusanito.bsky.social joining us. It’s so important to hear other #adoptee stories. Thank you Susan for sharing yours. Can’t wait! 💜

I love this. It's just as important to hit delete sometimes as it is to persevere. It's critical to know the difference.

Last night I taught week one of my Writing Personhood #adoptee only #memoir and #creativenonfiction class for the first time in over a year. My heart was so full from being with other adoptees and hearing their stories. It's so important for us to know we are not alone. Can't wait for next week. <3

I’m currently listening to this incredible memoir narrated by the author in her gorgeous, rich voice. I’m enjoying hearing her tell her incredible story in her voice. Have you read it? What did you think?

I also loved The Part that Burns. I read it after hearing @jeannineouellette.bsky.social talk about it at HippoCamp several years ago and it stays with me still.

Ooh I am reading How to Say Babylon right now!

I don't believe readers don't want to read real people's stories of change and growth. Here are a few memoirs I've read this year that I kept thinking about:

Monsters, a Fan's Dilemma--Clare Dederer
Docile--Hyseseung Song
Sink--Joseph Earl Thomas
Hijab Butch Blues--Lamya H

What about you?

Since I'm just getting started over here, I want to be clear. Trans women are women, trans men are men, nb people are real. White people stole most of this country from indigenous people and stole the labor of generations of Black people to build wealth, which continues thanks to the prison system

Tell us about books that made a difference in your life. I’ll start.

The first book that changed my life profoundly was The Phantom Tollbooth. I was in fifth grade, already an aspiring writer. Equally important was the librarian who gave it to me, Mrs. Ross. 💙
