Broadly yeah. I find this place too sterile.

Looks like it's thousands of years old

The grid forming inverters in the subsequent circuits brought online will only provide blackstart if contracted to do so. If not contracted they will see voltage on the grid when it comes back and then synchronise with it along with every other generator

Black start is a contracted service for the grid operator. So they'll have some BIG black start sources they prioritise. Where I live the first one is a hydro dam. They isolate that system, bring on the hydro and get it stable. Then they slowly connect more and more grids to synchronise

All grid forming inverters will provide virtual inertia in either direction. It's an inherent function of GForming inverters.

Nothing like that here in Australia. GForming tech is usually used when there are commercial advantages.

Grid forming inverters can be installed everywhere. Their internal protection settings guard against these outcomes. In general, forming inverters provide *better* fault current so trip better. And in partial situations will dosconnect.

Grid forming inverters are *always* working to bring the waveform back to where it thinks it should be. So it supports voltage and power in real time. You can prioritise voltage support by fiddling with the VAr output

Electricity Grid Inertia – What is it? There’s been a lot of talk in Australia this week about ‘inertia’, how much we need of it in bits of the electricity grid and where we can get more. This discussion has been kicke…

Oh I'm very infrequent. I do know the answers to these! The grid forming question up the page is answered here evcricketenergy.wordpress.com/2020/09/03/e...

I couldn't figure out the Mastodon integration and I don't use Bluesky much BUT; pleased to see your smiling face

Yeah I'm sceptical about any passenger vehicle charging over about 150kW. The marginal cost of construction of going from say 150kW to 350kW is about 2x. The increase in utility is some vehicles save 1-2 minutes charging time.

Also not using Bluesky much obvs

There's a limited number of use cases where fast charging matters. Who needs to regain 400km range quickly?
No reason we can't have it here except for the blazing incompetence of some of the dnsps

That's on public chargers. 330kWh would easily cover our public charger use

Geez Severance is well written. My psoas is trying to kill me so I've been afforded the luxury of a lot of TV time

I've played against blokes like this. Can't remember his name but the comp I was in had a 63 yo finger spinner who came off two steps and was leading wicket taker EVERY year

Top shelf weekend here. Played a football friendly this afternoon and we crushed them but aside from that the vibe was impeccable. Football is life.

Got the juniors back into football training tonight. Some haven't kicked a ball in 5 months. Some have improved a little bit. One has gone through puberty and suddenly looks like a different (better) footballer

Due to an administrative error one of my favourite juniors is coming back after a season in reps. Now I get to say that I hired well during the offseason which is important for my coaching CV

I have invented a mocktail called "I just mowed the lawn". Half fill a metal milkshake cup with ice. Add 30mL Bickford berry cordial and 1-2 Woolworths generic electrolyte tablets. Fill to the brim with fizzy water.

One [unimportant] thing I will say about the Musk-Trump transition team is they look like any child in my U14s football team would beat them in any 1 v 1 physical contest. Football, pushups, wrestling, sprints, 5k time trial. Every single one of them would lose to a 14 year old.

That's the limit. 2400W is 10A single phase. 3600W 15A. Three phase equivalent 7.2kW and 11kW.
0.75kW = 1hp
Can be weird with petrol motors though as sometimes they quote the engine power use not output

Unsure what triggered it but I've got up today with a clear memory of Faith No More's "The Real Thing" is an outstanding album

Brant Bjork - Jalamanta and yeah I prefer the remaster. Anyone keen on the lead or bass parts let me know.

WTF that's Lawson Dog Park isn't it? I was there literally ten minutes ago in a black Leaf!

They have this model in a lot of degrees and it's insane to me.
We had to do 12 months of placement in engineering, but it was paid work. I couldn't have managed a year unpaid.

I find it so sad that people are listening to Aiden. He hasn't got the faintest idea what he's talking about. His criticisms of the ISP and the aemc fundamentally misunderstand what those things are.
The ISP doesn't set any policy. It summarises policies of politicians. This is important.
