I'm not sure I fit in any of these categories; when I'm not being a reflexive reply guy I'm griping or enthusing about baseball and/or other Xer/Boomer-aged things (old bands etc.).
But I do go for 5e/BG3 and the Filoniverse. That's gotta bring *some* balance

Now, are all those songs just silly ways to get people clapping and engaged and out of their concessions-slowed torpor? Just as silly, perhaps, as the doorbell team name chants? Yes.
But the doorbell chants are only two notes. They're dumb and they always have been.
Because the MLB baseball park experience should be so so much more than the inane "let's go [team name]" doorbell-chants.
Addams Family! Havah Negila! Blister in the Sun! And so much more. MLB ballparks and organists give us what soulless radio stations cannot. The BBC of the USA.
Because I mean come on. We know Dylan likes to tour. He just is gonna do it when he wants to
I’m all in on “Bob Dylan ‘crashed his motorcycle’ so he could get out of a punishing speedball-fueled schedule of endless touring imposed on him by a maniacal Albert Grossman”
The arrogance, entitlement, and smug, gratuitously transparent kayfabe from that team is a feature and not a bug
digital card showing snapshots of a baseball game at Anaheim Stadium, for Padres vs Angels, with selfies of fans and shots of the field from high upon on the right side
"Star Wars Night" at the Big A for Padres/Angels was both extremely silly and occasionally great (the box score tells the tale). But the unquestioned highlight was getting our mostly-OC-based D&D group together. Great to see you both @carlisle25.bsky.social & @trashpandaindustry.bsky.social
It may have taken 54 years to go from Muskie/tragedy to Platner/farce, but time is a flat circle or something
I should have expected the return of ibogaine, what with electoral figures from Maine prominent in the news again
lol sorry, my mistake—that should be filed under "favorite John Milton verse (wrong answers only)"
"Tonight the town's electric, and I'm a lightning rod/cause I can take a shock as well as any Son of God."
Back in the last century my English BA meant that I knew how to interpret creativity on multiple levels and could think figuratively about art or music or literature or whatever. These days that's being beaten to death by a plague of reductive literalism
this was my thinking when briefly working with Midjourney v4, because whatever it gave me needed substantial post-gen retouching work in photoshop (which I'd done professionally in publication layout for decades) to be presentable
Erasing a six-run deficit to win it in a walk-off works too!
"Who are those people" was of course rhetorical; I've seen those names before and believe they're actual humans even if they seem irreparably warped in multiple ways
I'm 49 & I've never watched a single youtube stream by anyone, which is as it should be. Who are those people
(I am also slogging my way through the third book in the Malazan series, which I don't love but don't hate—& it definitely doesn't seem like I'll hate it as much as Bluesky thinks I should)
Now *this* is the Padre team we thought we were gonna get. 6 straight wins, 11 hits, starter goes 6, bullpen shuts it down.
About the only thing they didn't do tonight (but have done all last week) is homer.
It's come to my attention that I don't use the word "banjax" enough, and I intend to correct that grevious error in the hours and days ahead
I'm still confused whether performing "ironically dumb" is better or worse than being "proudly dumb" and...fuck it, they're both dumb things to do and I don't respect either one
two new era san diego padres baseball caps: the brown and gold on the left and the new orange, dark blue, and white "city connect 2.0" colors
Acquired this weekend: a new Padres City Connect hat (in time to see them in Anaheim next weekend). The blue is supposed to be "obsidian" black, and it really is much darker when not under direct light, but right here its colors appear very reminiscent of San Diego's 1998 World Series team.
The radio feed actually fell apart for me late in the game and poor Mr. Gwynn Jr. was repeating the same five words like a skipping record (no I don't remember what they were; something about pitching)
adVanced zoomer humor here
In my experience biking is the best way to see a place. Fast enough to cover distances relatively easy, small enough to access shortcuts that cars can't, exercise-y enough to stay healthy while you're doing so, and exposed to everyone else so you *must* communicate your intentions.
One might think last night's extra inning slam above would make a three-run walk off in the 9th tonight kinda ho-hum.
One would be wrong. It was rad.
There's winning and then there's extra-innings grand slam walk-off winning www.espn.com/video/clip/_...
For myself I'm partial to the title track and "Jesus of the Moon" but Bad Seeds with an injection of Grinderman for the length of that album really was something else
For me pseudo vs govt name is that continual push-pull between "if I make something cool I want my name on it and I want people to know" vs "fallout from the coolest stuff I'm making in recent years would have a detrimental effect on other important things that I do"
(way off topic but still)
son, I'm tired of this app, these people. I'm tired of being caught in the hangups of their poasts
