We have a representative democracy. The magic occurs when individual MPs are assembled hearing each other out. Party affiliation is not on the ballot allowing the MP to influence his/her party to the extreme which in the case of floor crossers is the back bencher’s super power. It works both ways.

This reminds me of the debate around safe injection sites for addicts. Nobody wants to blame the addicts/violent students and their parents but the reality for public policy is to choose responses that will cause the least harm for effective public education while working on longer term solutions.

Why was PM Carney not in Washington with the so-called coalition of the willing? This is a bad sign for Canada as we contribute more per capita to Ukraine than France. Canadians need to wake up much more about the US threat to Canada, let alone Ukraine. Russia takes Europe, USA takes Canada.
