Maybe Rupert Murdoch marched down there and made them do a parody of his favorite book or something, I dunno. I've always been baffled by Those Ayn Rand People

I will never understand why The Simpsons writers used up one of their rare "Maggie speaks" moments on an Ayn Rand homage ๐
Yeah, Triangle is one of my favorite games ever and I felt like this was the exact opposite design conceptually. What I really admired about that was that every unit was so specifically designed and it was a matter of figuring out how the tools work together. This was a "hope you built right" game
Yeah, I tend to agree. There are a few good synergies but they're not well balanced for the challenges the game throws at you. You're kinda railroaded into using a few overtuned skills
Anyway, no more ranting about this game. One of the only games I can say I completed mostly out of spite ๐คฃ
Maybe I am just too Fire Emblem brained to appreciate this design approach. Like, Fire Emblem hardcore fans criticize bad enemy spawns and annoying map gimmicks. But their gameplay complaints seem downright petty compared to some of the random bullshit Final Fantasy Tactics throws at you ๐ค
And they give you the freedom to build whatever character you want, but will only let you field 5 characters. And then will give you unique story characters that are way better than your generics.
Homer, Marge, and Lisa all got benched for the final battle and only Doublehanded Dragoon Bart made it
Oh, this is a 1v1 battle, Ramza needs to be built this way
Oh, I need to bring anti-KO protection rings
Oh, this time my units got turned into frogs
Etc, etc
And sometimes the best items to fix these issues are gated behind obscure and tedious mechanics.
The problem with Unit Building games like this one especially is that you have no idea what kind of skill/tech gates will come. So certain battles in FFT are like old Sierra adventure games where you die, and your death communicates what you need to do on the second attempt
I've concluded there are 2 types of RPGs: Tactics games and Build games. Tactics games give you most of the tools and the battle is about making the proper decisions to win. And Build games let you build units however, with the expectation you'll handle whatever they throw. FFTactics is a Build game
Finally finished Final Fantasy Tactics, and it's gotta be the most disappointing game I've ever played. Really really dislike its approach to game design

Nice job! I really like how the individual data points give the overall picture with the color coding! I have never actually given quantitative scores to the episodes before so I really enjoy seeing these analyses
No but I have a lot of family on the East Coast so I am very familiar with them. Maybe that's it. I am a Midwesterner that has seen a Wawa before
Maybe I am a broken person
Maybe I just am not excited enough by this convenience store
Maybe I need Buc-ee's therapy
People go to one for the first time and act like they had a convenience store religious experience
I will never understand people's obsession with Buc-ee's
You just lost the cheugy game
I remember it being like this small corner of influencers who came up with this word and tried really hard to make fetch happen, and basically the whole internet collectively shrugged their shoulders, no matter how hard they tried to push it as a thing people say
Hey, remember when they tried to get people to use the word "cheugy"
No because this is one of the reasons why I don't tell them ๐ญ
It's one of those "every time ______ happens" kind of project so am trying to be thorough
Anyway, I am through Season 12 now. Can scan through a whole season's episodes in about 15 minutes. So that's like 5 more hours of searching that needs to be done
It's one of those topics that is easy to find examples when using the Disney+ scrollbar for a specific setting/object. So I can quickly go through them. But it's a vague enough topic with random one-offs that only searching through text plot synopses misses a bunch of examples
Currently researching a video that requires quickly scanning through all 800 Simpsons episodes ๐ฌ
I shall train by purchasing more noticeable things at the mall ๐ช
Teach me your public self confidence, o sensei
His first trip to Auntie Anne's will be magical
The cashier asked me, "do you want a bag" and I was thinking how weird it would look walking the mall afterward with a Tepig in my hand
My mall has a Pokemon dedicated store that sells stuff from Japan. Their plush wall was... overwhelming
