The adultification of Epstein’s victims protects him in death. It protects men like him. It protects the systems that make violence against girls look like consent. These harms don’t always happen on an island. But every time we turn children into adults, we make the island everywhere.
Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.
Political violence disproportionately hurts people with less power, not people with more power. Political violence will disproportionately hurt people of color and women and LGBTQ people. It’s not fair, but that’s the way it works. Celebrating political violence means at best indifference to that.
This is not a genuine search for truth. It is a calculated strategy to erode public confidence in the very institutions responsible for safeguarding health. It represents a form of gaslighting that undermines public trust and overrules sound scientific practice.

When the Executive publicly announces its intent to break the law, and then executes on that promise, it is the Judiciary’s duty to check that lawlessness, not expedite it. Two lower courts rose to the occasion, preliminarily enjoining the mass firings while the litigation remains ongoing. Rather than maintain the status quo, however, this Court now intervenes, lifting the injunction and permitting the Government to proceed with dismantling the Department. That decision is indefensible. It hands the Executive the power to repeal statutes by firing all those necessary to carry them out. The majority is either willfully blind to the implications of its ruling or naive, but either way the threat to our Constitution’s separation of powers is grave. Unable to join in this misuse of our emergency docket, I respectfully dissent.

There's a lot of talk about medicaid in the big awful bill but hardly anyone talking about how it will turn ICE into the largest law enforcement agency in the country and world's largest jailer. This is the equivalent of the enabling acts and will be the start of an ethnic cleansing campaign.

Reporting shortcoming here is that the “CDC” reported to have chosen from a list which funding was no longer needed is not scientific personnel, subject matter experts, or other civil servants. They are the handful of political appointees and DOGE zealots. Those qualified are boxed out of the room.
WOW: @miamiherald.com reveals that a person imprisoned in El Salvador had LEGAL REFUGEE STATUS.
He entered the USA legally in January and was detained because of his tattoos, EVEN THOUGH he had previously passed a full background check.
Without warning, he was sent to El Salvador on March 15.
Think it’s important to highlight how everyday violence of the U.S. criminal legal system is making what ICE is doing possible: this man was convicted of a crime at *16*; he was *pardoned*; when ICE came decades later they claimed the conviction made him a felon w/ no recourse against deportation
This follows similar efforts by the Trump admin to criminalize the very organizations the federal government itself previously approved for grants. This is a dangerous, dangerous effort; these are groups which worked directly with DHS and met stringent standards already.
This is a five alarm fire moment; widespread destruction of government records in direct violation of law that may erase accountability forever. Such destruction may even be outright criminal.
