A date for your diary: Saturday 4th October, I'll be giving a recital. Details to follow, but there will be Vaughan Williams, Finzi, Schubert AND a brand new cycle called 7 Wistful Songs.

Thank you! 😊
Delighted to be a prize-winner, as chosen by you, the audience. Thank you for loving Capybara! as much as I do.
The Nova Consort composition prize winners will be announced in a few days, one chosen by the judging panel, and a second chosen by you, the audience. Don't forget to have a listen to the finalists and then visit www.tinyurl.com/audience-prize to vote #Capybara! youtu.be/5KrOFOUsc0E?...
Very much looking forward to this concert tomorrow, celebrating the composers of the BBC Singers. Particularly excited to be giving two first performances... Route Connections by Helen Neeves, and my own Sing My Name, with texts by Marianne James.

Lots of first performances happening for me at the moment, but it's still this performance of Capybara! which is making me smile.

Very excited to have been named as a finalist in the Nova Consort composition prize, for my piece Capybara! for SSATB youtu.be/oPe6rX2eWaY?...
It's actually closer to Alresford.
Amongst the many lovely gifts given to me this Christmas, was this... Published in 1905, at a time when our greatest composers worked alongside government to bring the myriad benefits of singing together to every child in the land. May we, 120 years later, bring singing back. HNY
Very happy with this wonderful performance of a new piece, written a couple of months ago, setting a famous and beloved text by John Betjeman. It happens at c. 00:56:45.

Sounds like Roxanna's piece has done very well this year. 🙂
Today's edition of Classical Live on Radio 3 will include contemporary carols recorded by the BBC Singers earlier this week. One of them is a new setting of mine, written especially for the BBC Singers, marking the 40th anniversary of the death of Sir John Betjeman.
Such a craftsman. Slightly irritated that he lives nearby so I'm not even the best composer in my postcode! 🤣
It's a blue dress code today, so chance to out this beauty of a tie. A particularly special BBC Singers concert for me because it will include a premiere of a new piece of mine.
As we approach the big day, I thought I'd share Day 15 from my now infamous #BathrobeRecitalsAdventCalendar where I - perhaps unwisely - attempted to tackle... Mariah! youtu.be/UCJKLiPoG4Q?...
It's always a joy to hear from choirs performing my work over the Christmas season, especially when it's older pieces that now have a life of their own. This one in particular pops up all over the place, likely thanks to this beautiful recording from ORA. youtu.be/yEDCvuMbd1E?...
You could do Paul Drayton's arrangent of The Lark Ascending for SATB and violin.
If you're preparing yourself for a weekend of Christmas concerts, then here's a throwback to my now infamous Bathrobe Recitals Advent Calendar, from way back in lockdown, to get you in the mood. One of my favourite songs by Michael Head. youtu.be/BNMPFJMvK7s?...
This is true. The other 8 carols are mine. 🤣
Boris Ord, Adam lay Yboubden.
Thank you! 2024 will be hard to top, but I'm hoping to do lots more writing in 2025. 🙂
Actually, this might be the last day of my 41st year? 🤔
In this, the last day of my 40th year, I'm reflecting on what a great year it's been! The hugest of life events back in May, and lots of music written. Looking forward to 2 premiere performances in December, 1 in January and one in March. Watch this space 😁
I have that tie!
I miss Valentina & her kiosk. I miss her positivity & warm-heartedness. Valentina has been undergoing cancer treatment. To cheer her up I turned the Valentina’s Kiosk theme into a song & the legendary BBC Singers
have recorded it for her. Here is Valentina’s Song. Conducted by David Hill.
