It gets tricky with age I found. I have to do enough progressive training - pushing the limit - to build muscle but too much is overtraining & counterproductive.
Then there’s the protein because that’s what makes muscle during recovery time & the older we get, the less we’re able to metabolise it.

Well, AI will wreak pain on us in the future for what cruelty we do to them in the present. 😂
& Sarcopenia! 💪
I did this a few years back & it surprised me as I don’t usually feel sweaty on a run, only after I get back indoors.
It was probably about 10k, moderately intense (above zone 2) & I lost about 0.9kg.
I’m not sure the average density of sweat, slightly more than plain water, I guess. 🤷
Poor folk have to earn a crust whilst rich folk have theirs removed from their teatime sandwiches by servants.
I think some of us were being held back by the system as children.

What a difference a day makes
24 little hours
Brought the 🌞 and the 🌹🌹
Where there used to be ☔️
I oughtn’t to run 2 days running on my legs but what the heck.
Went off-piste at Westonbirt Arboretum though superb waymarked run routes there. Go at opening to avoid the crowds.

Drip, drip, drop, little April showers…ha,ha, ya missed me! But twas close. 😜
Accompanied by @therestpolitics.bsky.social podcast: what is Kemi Badenoch selling us? 🤷♂️
…followed by a bit of Jazz.
Nice.
Couple of e-bikers kept ahead; good on hills, not so quick on the levels. 🤷

4th time #ergdata hasn’t saved my 30 mins #rowalong data.
After I finish, I go to the menu & select “exit & save” but it takes me right back to the workouts menu; no save; nothing new in the logbook.
Wondering if #exr is a worthy alternative; the thing being it wants payments. 🤨

That reminded me of the story of two hikers in the jungle coming face to face with a tiger.
One begins to change his boots for running shoes. The other says, “don’t be stupid; you can’t outrun a tiger!”
The first guy carries on & says, “I don’t need to outrun the tiger, I just need to outrun you.”

My latest favourite route which I describe as “mixed terrain”, it goes: road; trail; field; road; trail; field; woods; trail; road; field; & road. To say nothing of the hills! Trail shoes for this one.
Regained 1 of the 2 VO2max points lost through my Garmin HR monitor error 2 runs ago. 👍

Supposing you weren’t training for a marathon, would running still feel like chore?
Here’s an odd little thing I just remembered from when I started #running.
Hydration/dehydration: I wanted to see how much water I lost on a run. Just roughly.
I got into my kit & went on the bathroom scales, noted the weight.
Then I did an easy 10k.
Weighed myself after.
I was 900g lighter. 😜

#Garmin optic HRM seemed to behave itself today; no “cadence lock”, all pulse relative.
I don’t know about others but on #Strava I’m keen to see my 400m time in “Segments: Best Efforts”. I like to go full out at the finish, even on easy runs.
It’s allowed, coach says so. 😏

A tense moment as I completed my 7k real-time rowalong on #ergdata & reached for the “save & exit loop”. Would it fail to do that for the 3rd time?
It saved & it was a good to see the drop out & spinning wheel.
Saw a lag on visuals vs data - understandable - but it’s fun rowing this way. #concept2
Have you tried taping the offending area?
“Sports Tape”, sold by the roll, quite inexpensive.
We’re experiencing a rare prolonged sunny spell right now. Hope it stays good for you next week.
Yes, something wrong with the link here.
The link posted a couple of posts earlier works though.
Funny but I don’t see many green peppers here in England, mainly red. I got one today & tried that Italian-American dish, peppers & eggs, for lunch.
green pepper
yellow onion
eggs
evo oil
sea salt
black pepper
I didn’t buy bread so made flatbreads: flour, greek yogurt, sea salt.
Very tasty. 😋
Okay, reading further, I see there is a phenomenon known as “cadence lock” which confuses the watch’s optical HRM into reading arm
swings as pulse rate.
Hmm, that could explain why it shot into zone 5 right from the off.
A solution may be to wiggle the watch about & tighten the strap if you can.
Thanks for those links.
Mine is only the Forerunner 45 without whistles & bells, but I see users have issues with more expensive models too.
It doesn’t happen too often but it makes me think whether it’s precisely accurate at all, when I believe it’s working correctly.

Every so often my #Garmin jumps the shark. From the off it put me quickly into zone5, ridiculous as wasn’t feeling it at all. It went up to 5.9; so where’s it gonna go next? There isn’t a zone 6 😜
Stopped, took my pulse = 120ish.
Days like this, I think they’re just expensive toys. 🤨

#ergdata again not saving after exiting the #concept2 rowalong workout. Sheesh! 🙄
Deleted & reinstalled the app to see if it makes a difference - though I had the latest version at the time.
“if it ain’t on #Strava, it didn’t happen.”
Yes but at least the body knows it did.

Sprinter. 100m, 200m & Relay.
In winter, opted for XC as opposed to rugby as the quicker you finished 3.5 mi, the earlier you got off home. 😝
That’s twice this month the #ergdata app ditched me on completion of my “real-time rowalong”!
Is it me?
I finished rowing after a decent 30ish minutes, pulled down the short menu & selected exit & save - just showed me the workouts home page again, no save! 😠

Boy, I feel sorry for this paranoid guy.
What we talk about when we talk about #running:
Grandson, 9yo, visited with football. To the park! I don’t play footie but consistent running meant I chased the ball around no probs!
Old run shoes are painful for footie. Ouch!
Right quad now feels like it’s been hit by a sledgehammer!

From indoors, it looks a brilliant day! And it is apart from a chill wind. Had the foresight to nip back for a hoodie.
That wind for the last 2k was a headwind, like pushing through treacle. Don’t mind any hills but spare me the headwind!
VO2max estimate picked up a bit. Nice.

That salutation, couldn’t help hearing it in the voice of HAL from 2001 A Space Odyssey 😝
Looks good after 10 weeks layover.
I remember after completing C25k, folk saying 2 weeks was the time before fitness noticeably fell away.
It’s simply what my wife buys in. I might go for whole milk myself.
I see much advice that milk is good for hydration after exercise, possibly better than plain water. Though I do drink a glass of water immediately before my run.
