I lived in Klaipeda, Lithuania for a few months. They talked about how during Soviet days, the tank battalion stationed in town would roar out of their station and around town for an hour or two, just to remind people to be frightened and cowed.

I've always been an irregular reader and writer. Depending on how you define "poetry," I read a whole lot or hardly any. I have been trying to persuade myself to actually read Poetry magazine, and have managed some glancing encounters. Fortunately I can buy books without spending my food money.
