This government ran on a competence and managerialism ticket. It's somewhat bewildering that they can do neither.

More people need to be made aware of this. Labour would rather work with Reform than with progressive parties. They've been doing deals with the Tories in Scotland for years to keep out SNP and Greens
That's why they need to be completely replaced in the minds of progressive voters

I’m so impressed by the contributions to this crowdfunder that we’ve been too busy to even talk about properly.
We planted hundreds of trees. Removed infinite barbed wire. Rewetted miles of land. Already spent £3,600 on surveys yet to be done.
Help us!

Donated. Thank you for doing all this great work!
Followed!
I always forgot my pannier was there and would occasionally clip a parked car with it
Bikes are liberation. The cheap, healthy, happy and quick way to travel
We need to get more adapted bikes out there for those with mobility issues
100% this
What they did to gay people in the 1980s, they are doing to trans people now
It’s why we shouldn’t budge an inch. They will fail eventually and we will still be here
Reform, greens and conservative all at 21%. Labour at 17. Lib Dems at 9.
Remarkable poll this evening from Lord Ashcroft. The Greens in joint 1st place.
We are replacing Labour and ready to take on Reform in the local elections on 7th May.

Exactly what they did across Scotland to keep the SNP out in multiple councils
But it doesn’t have to pay for its consumption; it can be used simply to increase household budgets (I.e. just give the receipts of a windfall tax to households equally)
I mean £5! Fat fingers…
If every member paid £6 per month that would give the party £12 million per year, so it really does make a big difference
(Last year we only had about £3m, so it shows the huge increase)
The ‘GDP growth above all else’ brigade will be happy about this
Turning fields, wilderness, villages and towns into waste dumping sites will be viewed as a good thing because it increases GDP, whereas a playing field or a woodland generates zero revenue
The narrative needs to change
I don't think anyone in this discussion is 'pushing deeply reactionary positions', but rather asking you to engage with other party members constructively.
Somebody can agree with your core objectives here, but still think the motion was problematic.
Having spoken to a few of them, I don't think that is the case
I think they have a different view of what Zionism means to them. Some view it simply as the right of Israel to continue to exist, others the right of settlement, but not displacement. One was anti-Zionist, but still opposed the motion
You can engage with other party members constructively, or you can start a civil war within the only party that has consistently called out Israel’s crimes.
But the latter approach will achieve nothing
In a democracy, cooperation and compromise are necessary
Waging factional wars is a sure fire way to destroy the Party
I’m sure there is a broad consensus in the party on this issue that doesn’t involve creating warring camps
I’m not being manipulated by anyone. I am capable of forming my own opinion
Jewish Greens don’t get a veto, but we create policy in the Green Party by consensus, if possible (I’m not expecting unanimity). You would find many Jewish Greens willing to work with you to reach acceptable wording
Conference ran out of time to hear the motion - it happens all the time. I also find it frustrating.
Lots of us had issues with the wording of this motion, the definitions it used and what it meant for wider policy and internal rulings. It can pass next time if some of those issues are addressed
There is an opportunity to work with others in the Party, including the Jewish Greens group, to come up with a better motion for Autumn, that we can all get behind.
Conference plenary is frustratingly procedural, but we often run out of time for motions, unfortunately.
'Zionist sabotage' is hardly appropriate. I had issues with the motion and think it would be bad policy, despite agreeing with its ultimate objective of condemning structural Israeli violence against Palestine
In democracies, sometimes people disagree with you for a wide range of reasons
The party recognises the existence of Israel, but beyond that you won't find any real 'pro-Israel' sentiment.
This account doesn't really describe what happened. It's very common to run out of time in plenary sessions, unfortunately. But it's not a conspiracy
In about half of all Reform seats here, the GRN+LD+LAB vote is at least 50% more than the Reform vote. So I think there is huge potential for tactical voting by those progressive supporters.
Good local campaigning should deprive Reform of a huge number of seats
I largely agree with it, and welcome its detailed and structured approach to understanding what wealth is and how it can realistically be taxed.
Allowing evidence, rather than soundbite, to determine policy always leads to better policy (we can work on the soundbite later)
They say if you hold on to your clothes, they'll come back into fashion eventually
This article on how the @greenparty.org.uk should tax wealth is very similar to the proposal the party agreed in 2018 (but was then overturned with the current policy)

Renters are paying for the home they live in, plus their landlord's (unearned) profit
These room rents are obscene
Time to abolish landlordism
We need a govt that sees affordable housing as its responsibility, not leave it to a deeply dysfunctional market
The report is interesting (though I’m sure there have been big changes since 2024), but it doesn’t really say much about the role of party members in our democracy
They are the people who got off their arse to make our democracy function
The question you should be asking is: how would the system function without them?
They are the one thing that stands between oligarchy and the running of our society
Whatever you think he is (I don’t know him), the point still stands: let’s not drag unconnected Jewish people in London into a debate about Israel’s violence
I’m not defending or promoting the article, which is rather muddled, though at least acknowledges the crimes of Israel against Palestinians
But it also argues for us to not blame Jewish people in London for the crimes of Israel. Your post hints at that, which I think is potentially harmful
