This is also common in Rutaceae. I wonder how many of these are just simple leaves with weird petioles.

Sorry guys, I needed to purge the old Botany Feed to remove some nsfw posts that were getting too frequent. I tried to correct the old one, but in the meantime, after some modifications, I deleted it by accident.

However, this is the patched version that should work well.

Identification of a tetrahedral apical cell preserved within a fossilized fern fiddlehead The gradual unfurling of fronds from tightly coiled tips, termed fiddleheads or croziers, is one of the most recognizable features of the fern lineage…

Rafael @rafadscruz.bsky.social and I are excited to share our new paper about fern fiddlehead evolution @currentbiology.bsky.social

Read the paper at www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

Thanks @palaeojules.bsky.social for the wonderful reconstructions!

Many like botany and mentioned it outside of a scientific context. And other users used some tags to promote inappropriate content. I've narrowed the criteria a bit to make a better selection now. Let me know if you users start to find too many weird posts in the feed again.

Ok, I will do some maintenance soon.

I edited again the Botany feed, with some new tags, and ranking the content by a ranking that takes into account freshness/likes (it was random before), since a lot of non-related and non-academic content was appearing. It is adjustable, so let me know if you are not happy.

A brown, hairy tree fern fiddlehead, still curled in a tight spiral with four smaller spirals inside, creating a nice contrast with the series of straight fronds behind.

Been too long since I shared any #Hawaii wildlife! Catching up on processing images, here's a geometry lesson I got from a native Hāpu'u tree fern while visiting the Big Island. :) #endemic #botany

I just (re)created a Botany feed tracking several Botany terms.
The last one was quite limited and impossible to edit.

I hope it is useful =)
