Anthropic's Claude Mythos isn't a sentient super-hacker, it's a sales pitch — claims of 'thousands' of severe zero-days rely on just 198 manual reviews Many of the "thousands" of bugs and vulnerabilities it found are in older software, or are impossible to exploit.

What'd I say?

@washingtonpost.com on Bluesky At the annual National Action Network convention, Rev. Al Sharpton asked Kamala Harris what the crowd really wanted to know: Will she be running for president in 2028? "I might," the former vice president said. "I'm thinking about it." https://wapo.st/4cgDaOD

If she wants it she needs to step up now and be a leader. Work is there to be done. People need to see her lead without a position dangling over her head

The article spends a lot of time glazing the new model with ZERO journalistic or academic rigor yet is given a headline and lede framed like fact.

They have to do better in how these opinion pieces are presented

While I am starkly aware that these tools could potentially do this(I used Claude to find malware in a site that was scraping card info). I have to ask.

Where is the independent confirmation of these claims? This is what peer review is for.

Our finance bros here been playing fast and loose but:
1. Why is the government so obsessed with this under-regulated pyramid/gambling scheme?
2. Why is this a national priority worth taking up the Finance Ministry's time?

Came across this thread on the "Stock market sandbox" and... isn't this just the process that should go into any company listing?

Pardon my dust for the next 48 hours. I'm connecting my writing up to here.

This is going to end badly. It's a 3 card scheme involving government AND pension funds.

AND it's going up against OpenAI's supposed IPO. It's all an ego circlejerk and I would caution everyone to get on the phone to their various 401k/Pension/investment reps and say no to all of this.

Asking this because I know the origin of the phrase but haven't parsed the broader cultural context.

Is "...pound of flesh" (whatever variation) anti-semetic? Has the cultural context moved beyond Shylock?

Wholly agree. As with every example of this in history, the tool was never the issue, it was the men who were making the decisions. Technology will change but humanity tends to repeat the same kind of decisions in new contexts

These would also give more legs to the reactive side (the other prong) of the law. It would let the harms that do slip through get caught and the better penalties and enforcement options.
