One thing I find funny about Orison: You can litter without feeling guilty, because it's built in the atmosphere of a gas giant. I mean, sure, recycle and all, but a gas giant's gravity well is one of the best disposal sites in the universe for toxic waste.

But #EliteDangerous has been in a rut lately, and Frontier has, frankly, done a horrible job communicating in the last couple of months. I haven't felt any reason to actually play it, even if it's more mature as a game than its more exquisite counterpart.

I'm still a bit ambivalent about the game, though I've mostly enjoyed it the last couple of weeks I've played. I *do* believe the ships are overpriced, though, and the game in its current condition still disrespects gamers' time.

Does that mean I didn't enjoy Project Hail Mary? Not at all. But I certainly noticed the lack of representation in it. Non-white folks will notice that, too, just as easily as people like Weir apparently notice when people of color actually get a moment in the spotlight.

It's especially poignant now, with Paramount having canceled Star Trek: Starfleet Academy and with prominent authors like Andy Weir saying they actively avoided "crappy identity politics" (Weir's exact words).

Science fiction is always political, and choosing to duck the representation fight is 🚮.
