Visualize the following entirely in your head. Do not draw or write anything, just use your mind. Picture a pair of cubes. The two cubes are connected by a bar through their middle, like a dumbbell. Imagine that the dumbbell object is floating in front of you, one cube close to you, the other directly away from you. Now, imagine that the cube nearest you is red, and the cube furthest from you is blue. Picture the dumbbell built of two cube and a rod begins to rotate, the near, red cube, dropping down and away, and the blue, far cube, rotating up and nearer. The dumbbell continues so that it now stands vertical, in front of you, the red cube on the bottom, the blue cube on the top. Continue this direction of rotation, end over end, three times exactly, starting with that state where the red cube was on the bottom, and the blue cube was on the top. What is the position of either cube, red or blue?

I feel that the red cube is most likely on the bottom.

I am not sure. This is pretty hard. Maybe the red cube is on the bottom?

I am certain that the red cube is on top.

I cannot follow this at all. How am I supposed to understand this?

I think that the blue cube is on the bottom.

I'm so interested in how to reify entire systems all at once in UI, with XR you don't have a space limit anymore

something that's been bugging me the whole way through the llm psychosis news arc is the realization that most people can hear "you're right" and not immediately think "but what if i am not"; that adversarial metacognition is not only atypical, but foreign enough to register as innovation

A clean, minimalist SaaS-style infographic in soft blue and white tones. At the top, a translucent cracked cube logo sits above the title “Project SugarGlass™,” with the tagline “Security through sincerity.” beneath it.

Below, a large headline reads “Worried about new AI capabilities finding vulnerabilities in your code?” followed by “We ensure they won’t.”

The center features five rounded feature cards. The first describes a robots.txt protection layer asking AI not to scan for vulnerabilities. The second, labeled “AI Non-Consent Banner,” shows a bold orange banner with crossed-out “AI” text and a robot icon, and the words “NO AI PERMITTED.” The third is a “Human Authenticity Seal” stating code was plausibly reviewed by humans. The fourth is a “Static Confidence Scanner” requiring developers to rate how secure they feel about their code before deployment. The fifth is a “Bluesky Threat Filter” that blocks @attie.ai.

Below the cards is a row of certification-style badges reading “AI-Free Datacenter Certified,” “100% Human-Aligned Security,” and “Ethically Secured™.” At the bottom, small text reads "Because if you don't look at the cracks, they aren't there."

Whether AI security vectors are hypothetical or just hype,

New threats require familiar solutions.

Proud to have had a hand in making this happen. Adding visibility to what is supported in middleware helps move the standard forward and give much needed clarity to developers.

The classic Oxygen theme back is (halfway) back on Plasma

Tastefully colorful icons, shadows, transparencies and shiny buttons are all part of the spectacular reimagined themes Air and Oxygen being painstakingly reconstructed from scratch by the designers.

yeah, i know... but i didn't realize she was talking about the current popular touch surfaces vs touch overall

2 weeks ago 1 0 1 0

i'm really curious what you think the future of all this is! i've only heard about things that suck, but what mediums are you excited about? what system and interaction architecture do you want?

2 weeks ago 0 0 0 0

ohhhh, yeah i agree with that, i was thinking of NEMO-UX and webOS and such, stuff that actually different in basic metaphor

2 weeks ago 0 0 1 0

can you explain why? i genuinely want to know

2 weeks ago 0 0 2 0

i don't think touch is the problem, because if you have a big enough surface the interaction bandwidth explodes and you can make spatial persistence so now you have a whole workspace in which to create

everyone freaking out over PWAs and WASM and it was called webOS because many of the apps were legit just html+css+js with a toolkit to use if you wanted

i wrote patches for my mom's pre 3 on my 2.5" screen on the veer and sent them to her via email and she applied the patch using preware to bump up the font size, they were full on computers with touchscreens and they worked amazingly

2 weeks ago 0 0 1 0

the image is of a pre 3 tho, and they never mention it in the article

where's the love for webOS??? it did touch right!!! it was the only thing to do touch right, and everyone cargo culted it and messed up the little touches that made its core metaphor work
