Anyone who shows up for this travesty is knowingly choosing to act as a prop for authoritarian kabuki because they’re too cowardly or amoral to pass up vapid schmoozing and free drinks. They deserve your contempt, and possibly a few pieces of rotting produce.

Every bit of this speech should be read ahead of the WHCD. What exactly are we doing should be the question on everyone’s mind.

"The actual Trump-GOP position: Republicans should be permitted to rig elections to their maximum benefit, and Democrats should roll over and accept it."

Virginia voters got this, @gregsargent.bsky.social writes, and Trump inadvertently helped.

The way out is simple: all agree no gerrymandering.

As part of the restoration of the rule of law, every lawyer in the Trump admin who touched this file needs to go to jail.

Sanctions and disbarment are what you do for private abuses of the legal system. Abusing the government power of criminal indictment is another matter, and they keep doing it.

The DOJ was created to increase the capacity for federal prosecutions during Reconstruction esp. those to be brought under the newly enacted KuKlux Klan Act.

Now the DOJ is being used to prosecute a storied civil rights organization whose central mission has been to expose & dismantle the Klan.

How Americans Could Lose Their Voice in the Push to Build Big Projects Efforts to update the National Environmental Policy Act put its future in doubt

For over 50 years, the National Environmental Policy Act has required the federal government to analyze the environmental impacts of its actions. But the law has become a flashpoint in broader political fights over who should have a say. Now, a series of blows have cast its future into doubt. 🌎

Nobody will ever trust us again. This is not a bug, but a feature of this administration.
This is disgraceful.

Maybe it's just me but I don't think Jeffrey Epstein's clients should be the ones to decide if Jeffrey Epstein's clients should be prosecuted.

What you have to understand is that the United States started a war, almost immediately lost it, then began the laborious process of negotiating against itself, and is now settling into the secondary denial phase …

Americans have not been at war with Iranians for nearly 50 years. Religious zealots in the US government have hated, feared and wanted to destroy the religious zealots in the Iranian government. And vice versa.

Innocent people die when the religious go to war.

The United States is destroying itself | Rebecca Solnit The daily news can’t adequately convey the administration’s sabotaging of our government, economy, alliances and environment

Because we get asked a lot.

The Technological Republic, in brief.

1. Silicon Valley owes a moral debt to the country that made its rise possible. The engineering elite of Silicon Valley has an affirmative obligation to participate in the defense of the nation.

2. We must rebel against the tyranny of the apps. Is the iPhone our greatest creative if not crowning achievement as a civilization? The object has changed our lives, but it may also now be limiting and constraining our sense of the possible.

3. Free email is not enough. The decadence of a culture or civilization, and indeed its ruling class, will be forgiven only if that culture is capable of delivering economic growth and security for the public.

4. The limits of soft power, of soaring rhetoric alone, have been exposed. The ability of free and democratic societies to prevail requires something more than moral appeal. It requires hard power, and hard power in this century will be built on software.

Palantir put out a 22-point summary of their CEO's book The Technological Republic. It's pitched as a defence of the West, but if you read it through the VDA framework, verification, deliberation, accountability, what it's actually doing looks rather different.

2 ¶¶ of a warrant affidavit describing Joe DiGenova going on Laura Ingraham's show spewing conspiracy theories about Marie Yovanovitch, Joe and Hunter Biden, and the Mueller investigation, and Victoria Toensing pushing Lev Parnas about getting a retainer from Yuriy Lutsenko. The names are redacted but I've put them in in pink.

Here's the key reason why putting Joe DiGenova in charge of the Russian investigation is so suspect. On the same day Mueller finished Joe was spewing FALSE conspiracy theories abt Ru and the Bidens, hoping to get paid by Lutsenko for doing so.
