I thought Teslas detected cars around you but I have almost died from one not checking their blind spot before they changed lanes and not using a blinker. Also, get rid of your Teslas ๐Ÿšฎ

I moved back to Seattle last year and somehow the drivers have gotten worse!!! Where are yโ€™all coming from?! Why are you honking at me when Iโ€™m going the speed limit?!! Why do ppl not know how to zipper merge!! Are we not using our blinkers now??

Rented a car over the past few days and had a thought; I should wear a helmet while driving in Seattle. Seattle drivers have always been bad. Ive been here since 2001 and I grew up driving in and around here for 19yrs but gave up my car when I moved to Brooklyn in 2021.

Must read: Mahmoud Khalil speaks out for the first time since his arrest by the Trump administration in an exclusive letter, dictated over the phone to his family, from ICE detention in Louisiana.

On the subject of people traveling to the US right about now: Fuck, if I were from another country and I didn't need to come, I sure as hell wouldn't, the current administration has made it clear traveling here isn't safe, and why not take them at their word, there's a whole world to visit

While Iโ€™m thinking about emojis, the ๐Ÿ”ฐ emoji signifies a new driver in Japan. Iโ€™ve seen non-Japanese ppl use it for random shit. Also, ๐Ÿฅ is a fish cake. Handful of emojis are only applicable to Japanese culture bc they were created by Japanese cell phone companies in the 80s and were adapted.

Sometimes I look at Japanese pplโ€™s social and they use the ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ emoji in the opposite way that my American brain does. I associate and reserve ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ for people that have died/ RIP and not a love/peace/harmony ~casually~ post.

If I was in BK, I would take it in a heartbeat ๐Ÿ˜‚ it was really cute but my electric bill would prob be so high trying to keep warm in the winter.

Apt 4 (2DK): I didnโ€™t take any pics, it was too small. But nice location, only one with yard access that I saw.

Apt 3 (1LDK): oldest + cheapest unit I saw. Liked the layout, but generally too old. Tile bathroom = so cold.

Apt 2 (2LDK): second oldest unit I saw. I liked how bright it was in the living area. Sad kitchen. Very tight entrance into bathroom area.

Here are the apts I saw in Iwate last week. Didnโ€™t like any of them enough to sign a lease. Apt 1 (2LDK): narrow w/ curved stairs I donโ€™t love. Nice otherwise. Pet doors! Most expensive one we saw.

Social media video pet peeves: when people tap the products with their nails. Right up there with food videos where they rip into something with their bare hands (ie cream filled bun) ๐Ÿ˜–

Also worth mentioning, I am working in my hotel room. Not really sightseeing, etc. This is also what happens when I stop seeing a therapist and I must process my obsessive reaction to the singular response my dad has expressed.

Ochazuke buffet

Ochazuke buffet

Clarification: I booked a hotel in Tokyo. It is right next to Tokyo Station! They have free late night ochazuke (rice tea porridge) buffet, morning coffee + smoothies, afternoon snack, and happy hour wine. I just donโ€™t want my dad to think Iโ€™m irresponsible with my money ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜ญ Immigrant child problems.

or maybe bc my parents immigrated to the US (Kansas) in the 80s and cost of living was relatively low in most of the states we lived in, but prob a mix of everything. We were mostly a single income family, my dad in restaurants. Anyway. I stand firm, $100 for a 3-star is a good deal!

When I tell my dad I spend approx $100 a night for a 3-star hotel (in my mind very affordable for a 3-star), my dad instantly yells out, thatโ€™s too expensive!! I donโ€™t know if this is bc heโ€™s not keeping up with inflation, because he lives in Iwate (aka the sticks), 2/3

Having lived in Seattle for a majority of my adult life (+brief 3 years in Brooklyn) has shaped what I perceive as expensive and affordable. My parents lived in the Seattle metro area for 20+ years but moved back to Iwate, Japan 4 years ago. 1/3
