I’m in Vietnam, I wanted chips (crisps?) & decided to order some and a few other things for delivery. Checked the @fritolayofficial.bsky.social ingredients for Lay’s Original Stax online to make sure they were dairy free. Apparently not all Lay’s Original Stax are created equal.

AK's Education Department is a "hands-off landlord." The agency owns nearly half of about 120 rural schools statewide. Inside, I've found failing fire alarms, faulty foundations, toxic leaks & raw sewage. Now the state wants rural districts to own those buildings. www.propublica.org/article/alas...
Due to travel, injuries, illness and surgeries, I have not been cooking much since November. At the moment I’m preparing to head out to a cabin for three weeks and am preparing a menu and shopping list. Admittedly a tad bit overwhelmed.
A grey haired man wearing a black tshirt stands in a kitchen holding a dinner plate. On the plate is a small green salad and chicken cacciatore. The man’s face is blocked by a smiley emoji.
As my mother’s cognitive decline progresses my ~78yo dad is taking on more household duties. Tonight he made chicken cacciatore from the @barefootneighbor.bsky.social “Keep It Simple” cookbook I got for his birthday. It was delicious; I’m so proud of him. 🍽️
I recently traveled to Italy. Eight days and I basically didn’t eat or drink (except water) the entire time. UTI isn’t a joke, especially when you think it’s gone and instead it’s moved to your kidneys and bladder. Straight from the plane to the ER when I got home. I want a redo on my trip.
As mom’s dementia progresses my 78yo dad is taking on more cooking chores. Bought him “Keep it Simple, Y’all” from @barefootneighbor.bsky.social for his birthday. This weekend he made Chicken Tortilla Soup in the crockpot. He’s never used the crockpot before! I’m so proud of him.
Great idea! Or when inventorying into Ravelry, include a note with possible project ideas. But will I do this? Probably not. 🤣
Oooh, thanks for both the yarn and pattern information. I have a friend for whom I think this will be a perfect gift. Even in that exact color!
Against a stylistic mottled blue background, this quote: "It's not our job to toughen our children up to face a cruel and heartless world. It's Our job to raise children who will make the world a little less cruel and heartless." ~ LR Knost

I know I’m not the only #knitter who does this: buy #yarn for a project, set it aside, forget what you planned for it, spend hours (?) trying to figure it out, then pick another project instead. So, what would YOU knit with two skeins of Madeline Tosh Merino Light? #madelinetosh #ravelry 🧶
Anyone have about $18,000 they want to give me so I can embark upon following a dream? It involves a small business, a little red trailer, and happiness for the community.
My friend drives elementary school bus and sent me a short video of the kiddos telling me they are having a disco party on the bus. I’m recovering from ankle surgery and was feeling a bit sorry for myself. She had no idea how much that little video would mean to me. Perfect timing. #energyboost
The parts of society being defunded - arts, culture, history, science, education, nature, etc. - are what make us more than consumers, and into community. They need protecting, they are keys to remembering who we are.
April 5, 2025 breakfast. Hard boiled egg from my hens, sprinkled with a healthy dose of Penzey’s Outrage.
Photo shows a beach scene in Costa Rica at sunset. The sky is a blend of yellows with hints of blue and pink, with whispy clouds adding texture to the sky, waves can be seen rolling onto the flat beach sand. In the foreground multiple young boys playing soccer are silhouetted against the ocean in the background.
My submission to Saturday's #BlueSkyArtShow; the theme is #Silhouette.

I’ve been traveling for nearly 4 months. On January 27, as my nation began its rapid descent into xenophobic authoritarianism, I ordered this book and had it sent to my house. Then I forgot about it. What a surprise to find it today! I look forward to exploring the recipes over the next months.
Sunrise watercolor painting of pink blue sunset, layered black spruce trees stand in a nondescript marsh.
Boreal forest, Rat Ponds trail. My fave place to ski.
Used an off brand paper so water didn’t do what I wanted it to do. (There’s a lesson here isn’t there?)
A belated #BlueSkyArtShow submission (I am consistently late!). This recent photo of my mother watching whales from our balcony in Mexico, captured a core memory. This will be the last big trip I can take her on, as travel is becoming difficult. #sunlight #aging #dementia #family
Photo shows a Diplomat Coffee company non-dairy creamer packet, with the ingredients listed. This list includes sodium caseinate (a milk derivative) and the warning lists milk as an allergen in the products.
In the realm of food discussion, this kind of product confounds & irritates me. #dairyallergy #dairyfree #hotelcoffee #travel #MarriottBonvoy #marriott

When they made these cards there were 52 active volcanoes in Alaska. Perfect for a deck of cards. But since then two others have become classified as active so they are considering creating a new set but need to figure out how to add two more cards.
After being sick for 36 hours, I thought I was getting simple vegetable noodle soup. Photo shows large bowl of various root veggies, tofu, cabbage, mushrooms, peanuts, pineapple and more in broth. Under the plethora of veg hides some rice noodles. On an adjacent plate sits fresh lettuce, micro greens & bean sprouts. Hopefully my weak stomach can handle the bounty. But I haven’t eaten in forever and I need sustenance so I’ll give it a shot.
After ~2 months in SEA I got hit by 🤢. Severe repercussions for that one ice cube in the 7-up purchased from a family on the side of a road while I took refuge on their porch from a rainstorm on my 14 mile bike ride outside Hoi An. Feeling almost human today, having vegetable noodle soup.
Ummm, I thought maybe one day you would travel to Southeast Asia with me, but maybe not? 🐜 🕷️ 🐍
Everyone I know does!
Well, I’m minutes away from Monday. I’m just blaming time zones to avoid personal responsibility.
Black and white photo of the clutter in an old shed in Alaska. There is an upside down moose rack, a toilet lid, a cat litter bucket and other unidentifiable random debris.
I know I missed the window for the #BlueSkyArtShow but I’m blaming it on being in a different time zone. Here is my submission for #abandoned. The things you find in an old shed in rural #Alaska. #AlaskaSky

Coffee shops in Vietnam are dreamy. ☕️ 🧶 🇻🇳
And it blows my mind
