The No Kings Protests Are Cause for Hope It's easy to dismiss the No Kings protests as performative, and honestly, they are. That's the point. Democracy is performative by design. The alternative to showing up in the streets isn't some purer, more effective form of resistance ... it's staying home. And staying home is exactly what an administration comfortable governing by fiat is counting on. We need to win, and win bigly, if we want any real shot at fixing the deeper rot. That starts with people showing up, making connections, and realizing how big this movement could be.

It can make some pretty weird assumptions on the first pass, but once you have a fully formed final output to work from, it can refactor things impressively as well.

What AI coding costs you I really enjoyed this article - I found myself nodding along throughout. I'm not an AI skeptic, but I do worry about what the next decade looks like for my career, and even more so for the people coming up behind me. We're drifting toward a future where the only engineers truly qualified to review AI generated code are the seniors who earned that judgment by writing bad code themselves — before AI existed to do it for them.

The Fallen Apple Brutal, but fair takedown of what it is like to be an Apple "fan" right now. The hardware is great, the software is generally getting worse, the "services" are getting more entrenched in the ecosystem, and the general cozying up to the government is a huge turn off. I think it's helpful to look around from time to time, especially when you're…

I want to be optimistic about Apple and feel confident that my investment of time, money, and attention is still worthwhile. But the trend line isn’t encouraging.

Stop ICE’s Aggressive Attacks on Immigrants and Citizens ⭑ 5 Calls The Trump administration has continually attacked immigrant communities across the country with aggressive ICE raids, abusive and inhumane detention …

A very simple thing we can all do is call your reps today and every day. Tell them to stop funding things like ICE until there is real oversight and accountability. I'm wide-eyed about how much this will actually influence most GOP reps, but still worth speaking out.

The agent responds, "Have you all not learned from the past couple of days?"

"Learned what?" she asks

Democrats should demand the dismantling of ICE, congressional hearings into its operations and prosecution of its worst offenders, but at the VERY least they must refuse to spend our tax money to fund these masked goons who are terrorizing our communities.

Rep. @AOC: I understand that Vance believes shooting a young mother of three in the face three times is an acceptable America that he wants to live in, and I do not. That is a fundamental difference between Vance and I. I do not believe that the American people should be assassinated in the street.

Don't let this Jan 6th point get lost:

Jack Smith testified to Congress he had "proof beyond a reasonable doubt that President Trump engaged in a criminal scheme to overturn the results of the 2020 election."

In other words, he could prove in court that Trump attempted a coup.

Stephen Miller Asserts U.S. Has Right to Take Greenland

Between the J6 anniversary and reports like this, it highlights that whoever comes next on the Democratic side had damn well have a spine to bring folks to justice to prevent this type of thing from happening again. "Getting back to normal" isn't going to be enough.
