A line of people in an airport

JFK Terminal 8 TSA PreCheck security line this morning: about an hour at 6:30am. Longest I’ve seen, but made it through by 7:35am.

What Rights Do Immigrants, Citizens, Green-Card Holders and Visitors Have? The expansion of immigration enforcement actions by the Trump administration has thrown the status of some rights into question. See what is unchanged, what is expanded and what is in dispute.

as the trump admin rapidly changes immigration policy, it can feel hard to keep track of what rights different groups — citizens, green-card & visa holders, the undocumented — have.

The real pain in dealing with trash is breaking down all the cardboard that people just throw out haphazardly and washing the compost bin. And hauling full bins up stairs would be a pain, I think we may look into a moveable ramp thingy for our stairs.

Hmm… I spend maybe 30 min a week on ASP to avoid a $65 ticket. Bringing back 4 bins would take maybe 5 minutes tops? The orange bin has to be hosed, the others don’t, they have liners. So I guess like $150-$200 a month? Annoying that it’s every week… but that’s already part of the super’s job

I’d call that full time. I agree with you broadly that shared on street containers would be better, but the additional work of bringing bins in is so minimal the real inconvenience is the commute. Maybe this other building is just going to find another arrangement - nothing is 10 min with parking…

Huh. That seems crazy inconvenient to have two part time jobs a driving commute away.

Do you know what percent of buildings have non on-site supers? My understanding/experience is that most would be either on-site or at least very nearby, like on the block, they could be the super for multiple nearby buildings. Certainly not driving in just for trash.

NYC’s congestion would not be tolerated on public safety grounds in Europe. Their codes are predicated on fire departments’ ability to quickly reach every part of a city from big, centralized fire stations with specialized equipment – impossible here www.fireapparatusmagazine.com/the-fire-sta...

If you took the stereotype about Democrats from working-class immigrant voters – that it’s a party of rich white people and poor people who don’t want to work and just want welfare – and tried to create a housing policy to match it, what would you end up with? Inclusionary zoning.

A tiny pinprick wildfire in NJ, with these precise wind conditions, is managing to poison ~8 to 12 million people.

Probably the worst impact per actively burning fire-acre in US history

I'm going to agree to disagree on Prop 2. The City Council knows the permit process is broken, but instead of fixing it for years, they've let it just lumber on because no one was in charge of enforcement. The result was impassible/unsafe bridges pedestrian paths/unusable sidewalks.

Spirit is great. Just don’t go in with the wrong expectations. Simple, easy to fly. Cheap.
