Cougars, Nittany Lions, Catamounts, Panthers, and Pumas are different regional nicknames for the same animal.

This is why we scientists use binomial nomenclature, in this case Puma concolor, which is admittedly a lame mascot name.

Wonderful post. When we lose that human connection, I imagine both the “prompter” and the viewer interact with the visual at a much more superficial level. We lose interest in the visual tool and trade it for efficiency, and maybe the viewer will mimic the lack of investment in their learning.
