Hit dogs hollering..

I come by to see familiar faces and see how things are going every now and again.

I've skimmed your timeline. Not seeing a damn thing about Gaza or Iran since one retweet five days ago. You aren't even pretending to talk about the main issues that minds need changing about my man.

"If Trump dies everything will go back to normal."

JFC, can you stop pretending to be a child for even one second?

All of this is to say why I don't come on here very often despite having a sizeable following and seeing a bunch of familiar faces. I ain't even on Twitter that much either tbh but coming to this place feels like a retreat, in every sense of the word, and it's hard to not register my disapproval.

On Twitter you get a fuller sense of the Gramsci quote "The old world is dying, and the new world struggles to be born: now is the time of monsters." You see communists and anarchists fighting with fascists and capitalists. Here it's mostly just liberals vibing with each other with some infighting.

BlueSky has a vibe that says "leave me be" and "patronize my bake sale" which would be fine if the world wasn't on fire - not that one could know what the state of the world is from looking at the "news" that gets shared on this app anyway. That's the main problem. It's a distorted bubble. It's bad.

I wouldn't say Twitter is full of anything except chaos. But in that chaos you see glimmers of hope for a new world amid collapse. Twitter is colonial and capitalist and those values are woven into the app, and yet it is significantly more radical than whatever this place is supposed to be.

BlueSky is full of hope. For reform. The sentiment you see here is that the US and Israel and Canada and all the settler colonies of the west can be reformed and rehabilitated and in a just world they should continue to exist. That's the prevailing sentiment I get from this app. Liberal reformism.

Hahahahahaha by "tiny toilet book" I meant that it was very small with short chapters, perfect for reading in the toilet because each chapter is like a page long. ๐Ÿ˜…

Quote retweet by Timothy Snyder, commenting on Phillips P. O'Brien, who is responding to a public statement by Donald Trump.

Timothy Snyder

@TimothyDSnyder
The whole Iran war is looking more and more like a gimmick to drop energy sanctions on Russia and pressure Europeans to do the same. A war to make Russia's much larger war easier and possible to sustain.

Phillips P. OBrien @PhillipsPOBrien
Worth noting that Donald Trump just announced the end of NATO and the Special Relationship in one tweet.

Donald J. Trump
All of those countries that can't get jet fuel because of the Strait of Hormuz, like the United Kingdom, which refused to get involved in the decapitation of Iran, I have a suggestion for you: Number 1, buy from the U.S., we have plenty, and Number 2, build up some delayed courage, go to the Strait, and just TAKE IT.

You'll have to start learning how to fight for yourself, the U.S.A.

won't be there to help you anymore, just like you weren't there for us. Iran has been, essentially, decimated. The hard part is done.

Go get your own oil! President DJT

This is Snyder's level of analysis on Iran, for example.

I see more about uwu widdle Ukwaine on here than anything else. ๐Ÿฅด

Ukwaine, the little engine that could... try to enter the war on Israel's side after watching them commit genocide for the last three years.

This site is fucking trash.

Not really no. Mostly dead compared to before.

I think I'm shadow banned there too. I did manage to land a 15k tweet last week with "Deadjamin Deadanyahu" but that's about it from the past year or so lol

I mostly just go there to read and share news about Gaza and Iran

Also. If you knew me from Twitter... I'm way more radical now.

Mostly on my personal FB but I am on Twitter more and more lately. Still doing the mutual aid thread. Straight up communist now though.

It's been a while since I read Wretched and admittedly I lacked the intellectual foundation for that text to hit the way it probably should have. I'll have to return to it.

Didn't find anything majorly objectionable about the Snyder book (I was a liberal when I read it) but I'm not a fan of him.

Today I give particular thanks for the wisdom drop @theagentndn.bsky.social shared that reminded me that while the methods were the same, the impact were specific to each culture we white people have perpetuated genocide upon.

Genocides. Plural. Hundreds of distinct cultures this continent alone.

I'm not on here much because it mostly just seems like a safe space for people who can't decide if they're liberals or not. I'll try to check in from time to time but uhhhh not a whole lot going on here. Shouldn't have to go looking this deep for updates on Iran. Or Gaza.
