Just released thread-utils-context-0.4.1.0 to Hackage. It's used under the hood by my hs-opentelemetry suite, and managed to get some significant speedups. A full read-write cycle over values in thread-local-storage have been sped up from ~248 ns to ~13 ns on my machine. 19x faster!

Better than being haunted by not giving it a fair shake, I think. My father-in-law was a pretty good musician and went into court reporting instead. Every time we visit, he expresses his regret at least once about not taking that path. Would hate to be haunted by regret caused by fear of failure.
