This would of course not have been possible without our collaborators at One Dance UK and NIDMS helping us proactively involve people in dance in designing this research and sharing our findings with them. An applied project driven from those in dance for those in dance form begging to end. 🩰
This is a wonderful recognition of the ESRC funded work @jenncumming.bsky.social, Dr Anna Lavis, Erin Sanchez and I have done to research, create and share resources to support those at risk of self-harm in dance education.
This morning I attended the @unibirmingham.bsky.social Public Engagement Awards and found out I have been highly commended for the Alice Roberts PGR Excellence in Public Engagement Award for the public engagement activities surrounding my PhD project.

As part of this we are currently evaluating the feasibility and acceptability of an educational workshop on self-harm for those in dance education. We are looking to conclude this work at end of December and with limited spaces left please get in touch if you are interested.
Having the support of the public engagement team has meant that we are able to disseminate this information to a broader scale of shareholders, ensuring our work reaches those it is intended for.
It’s been great to connect with and learn from others who take a similar approach to their research.
