Have you tried the sugarbee? I personally don’t like it very much because of the texture but it is very sweet! IMO, there is a weird aftertaste, though.

Oh no. Fuji is too mealy/mushy for me—at least the ones available to me in the US.

Aldi produce is peak. Thanks for the excellent visual.

So, I’ve read a bit about this and the original honeycrisp was the superior apple but it has been reproduced so many times that it’s become very inconsistent. Serious eats has a great write up on this. Cosmic crisp is still new enough/not overly commercialized that it’s consistently excellent.

This is another one I haven’t seen! I also note it’s called “Rave” in some markets so I’ll definitely be on the look out!

I have been on the hunt for these for awhile but have never seen them! We are slow to get new varieties it seems (though I was surprised I found a Lucy Glo a couple of months ago). I’m super jealous you have them! Crisp and tart sound totally up my alley.

GoldRush Apple Review - Apple Rankings by The Appleist Brian Frange Review of the Indiana bred GoldRush Apple, a hideous pockmarked goiter that overcomes its appearance with a goldmine of flavor.

I haven’t even seen these likely because I often sort of avoid all yellow/golden sections. I would try these!

Opal Apple Review - Apple Rankings by The Appleist Brian Frange Review of the hideous-loooking, yet deliciously juicy Opal Apple, a barometer for shallowness from the Czech Republic.

Opal has been one I have wanted to try though I think it’s going to be too mealy for me. Did you see the apple rankings description? It’s one of my favorite reviews.

Gala is not one I choose to eat but it isn’t the worst one out there. It’s fine for applesauce and dumplings!

I don’t need all the sweetness but mealiness is straight trash. I just want crispy!

• Cosmic crisp and honeycrisp are my favorites because mealy apples are abominable to my mouth. I can appreciate a pink lady or granny smith, especially for cooking.
• I don’t trust anyone who is a stan for red or golden delicious.
• The apple rankings website is one of the best sites.

I must find one!

I respect you as a scholar but apparently not as an apple connoisseur.

I have a lot of opinions about a lot of things. I am very opinionated about apples.

I agree with the others saying cosmic crisp. I’ll also stan honeycrisp and pink lady. I’ll allow Granny Smith. The rest I’ve tried are a mix of mid to never again.

Exactly! I just let them all grow until I can give them each their own space!

This happens to me so often it’s embarrassing. I then have a very hard time “thinning” seedlings and end up with too many mature plants to give away so then I plant all of those and live in an indeterminate tomato and shishito pepper jungle.

Much like Loretta Lynn, I was born a coal miner’s (grand)daughter. Both my maternal and paternal grandfathers worked in the mines for a time.

I relate to this so much. How do you feel about paper to do lists? That’s my go to nonactivity activity.

this is so relatable. legend.

Time a task spent on my to do list: 28 months
Time to complete said task: exactly 6 minutes

Time until recognition of this unhealthy pattern: the limit does not exist.

^ 100% agreed. I just HATE the formatting of Zotero/Mendeley, etc.
