see you next week!

ahaha it's very easy to be sidetracked by stock photography
there are pros and cons for sure
it's possible to reuse the same grid template on anything in the "full" column like you linked (using a CSS variable to keep it "DRY") so it's just nested grids rather than subgrid
I ran https://dbushell.com through our Al search visibility scanner. Your site scored 39/100. The biggest issue: No WebSite schema found. hat means Al engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google Al Overviews are unlikely to surface your content when people search for what you do. Full breakdown here (free, no signup): view your report
I have fail. I'm a fraud. 39/100 is embarrassing. That's way too high, any tips to reach zero?
blogged: CSS subgrid is super good

β in writing this I learned that -1 (negative one) for grid columns is not an integer overflow hack - you can just count the grid lines backwards π€¦ββοΈ imagine reading the spec...
happy birthday π₯³
thanks!
don't forget HN is ycombinator, wouldn't be surprised if they're running the bots in-house
no stack - it's just a janky bit of deno/javascript to build a static site hosted on bunny.net
i'd recommend any static site generator like 11ty or Astro to do the same
thank you :)
tip for WordPress theme devs if a plugin has terrible CSS specificity (which is all of them)

they can't remake me believing that it was real
this is harder than it should be and i rage quit im not stupid that game is stupid π€
when your joke homepage is unironically better than the bland distillation it replaced
kagi.com - can we keep it?
this is the way
excited to try this but disappointed that my paid Proton subscription gets zero benefits (unless i pay more)

my only wish is that the align/justify items/content properties made sense, i'm convince they exist in a super position and only manifest once i've chosen the wrong one
seriously, what was i doing before CSS Subgrid, bashing rocks together? once you see a subgrid they're everywhere
* not considered
yeh Den Odell's and Donnie DβAmato's articles touch of the good use cases
many of the other examples are a single <canvas> or <span> soup, which is very easy to fall foul of if considered
most real-world use cases I've seen go hand-in-hand with good CSS patterns
issues are it requires JavaScript, is almost certainly not as perfect as presented, and will fall foul of accessibility concerns:

maybe one day browsers will expose a standard way π

(yeah "sorry to the CSS zealots" doesn't make any sense regardless of the negative connotations)
i shall spare you a demand to unpack π
what exactly has been proven, and how?
can the moral framing not be nuanced and informed? (my framing: dbushell.com/ai/#morals-a... - you don't have to read lol)
suppose the problem is microblogging/commenting loses all that and appears dogmatic
i agree dogmatic anything is bad (and the bsky thing is the least of my concerns)
but that's a false equivalence - you're comparing pseudo-science and conspiracy theory around a humanitarian effort, to dislike of a VC-backed industry that's measurably harmful in almost all areas it touches
ouch. there is a good chance they also have absolutely no idea why your account was flagged either
good luck with that! π«‘
i'm sure you're capable of mashing the keyboard and finding the top search results, but in case i'm overestimating, some excellent resources:

overlayfactsheet.com/en/
give 'em hell! bunch of predatory grifters π
lol i'll suffer if that means you're blogging more :)
indeed :)
i even coded my own janky RSS reader and now you're stuck at the top all week
(bug will fix itself by Thursday!)
