Mostly stopped on socials, so this was a rare and lovely reminder of their capacity for good. All positive things and power to you and yours, Dr Sedgman, and it is such a balm to see happy sparkles in dark times.

Apropos of nothing, Jessica Curry's "Shielding Songs" are eerily fabulous. Been a while since I was haunted like that.

New book on the way!
This one is about medieval stories that refuse to stay put. It brings together scholars from art history, literature, performance and digital humanities to look at stories that shapeshift, speak back, and still catch fire.

Seems as good a day as any to post about the end of the world.
Made a 1-min video for my book "We all die at the end: Storytelling in the climate apocalypse", with @manchesterup.bsky.social.

That is how everything sounds in my head. It’s very confusing.

I LOVE THIS.
And you sir!
Also I know one should never judge such things, but gods it's a pretty shade of yellow.
Honoured to be included in this gnarly tome. My chapter "Beautiful Doom" sparked my thinking in end-of-the-world fiction, leading to my recent monograph. AND the editors chose my title for their collection!
Congratulations Jacqueline and Nick.

The Dark Portal by Robin Jarvis.
My book “We all die at the end: Storytelling the climate apocalypse” is out today.
It’s a round-up of the ways that foreseeable human extinction is affecting stories from children’s fiction to video games, weird horror to live art. Blood, tears and tentacles.

One of life’s true pleasures! Sam Copeland’s “Charlie Chahges Into A Chicken” was hilarious, Katya Balen’s “October October” broke our hearts, Nicola Penfold‘s “Where the World turns Wild” is one of the best eco-dystopias ever written, M.G Leonard’s “Ice Children” is brilliant mythic reprogramming.
Ohh, that is excellent!
Well done!
If you haven’t read it, Jean Giono’s “The Man Who Planted Trees” is short and very lovely.
This scrappy little monster has its own webpage!

A good thread of Artaud thoughts.
Also still going. I thought I’d been sent to Whamhalla by my son’s Christmas concert, then remembered that covers don’t count. Best of luck, sir!
Oh, bless you @ledbydonkeys.org. You make the world a better place to be.
You’re not alone in that. And I’m pleased to realise that neither am I.
Thanks for this. It is lovely.
KIDSWRITEJOKES IS ON BLUESKY! This pinnacle of human achievement - and its heroically silly output on the blue bird - was one of the only things that got me through lockdown.
I am so happy they’re here. And that this will be my first post on this peculiar wossname.
