I'm huge fanatic for the 'Alien' movies and as I kid, I was introduced to the franchise through the comics, toys and video games. Something about that second hand wave of media that embraced the color and caught my eye from across the comic book store before I had ever even seen the movies.
At first I wasn’t sure what you meant and then I started seeing mentions of Nathan Myhrvold, the 3rd author of the paper. And then I had to Google him and the Epstein connection appeared.
Like everyone else, I was pleasantly surprised by the news of spinosaurus mirabilis being officially named and described. And reading how we have material from multiple distinct specimens is amazing. I was not gonna slouch on the flood of new paleoart depicting it.
I like to imagine that they had a bit of a Napoleon complex.
This is nanotyrannus. A controversial animal that’s recently enjoyed a media spotlight as consensus has solidified on its validity as its own genus. Previously, it’d been largely considered a juvenile tyrannosaurus.
Another illustration for Creative Beast Studio's new tabletop card game 'Zoic'. This has been a really fun project. Depicted is a dryptosaurus mother who is now faced with the tragic consequences of an incapacitating injury resulting from a failed hunt.
I’m excited to show some of the work I’ve been doing for Creative Beast Studio. Painted in Procreate. #procreate #paleoart #digitalart #dinosaur #dinosaurs
#mypetmonster probably explains a lot about why turned out the way I did. #procreate #procreateart #digitalpainting
Here’s a piece of something else I’ve been working on just for fun. I missed my chance to post it for #alienday #lv426 #426alienday #xenomorph #alien #aliens #procreate #procreateart
Deinonychus. They might be scaled tad too big.
This is a fun one but it’s a lot of work. A lot of animals in the scene and figuring out what each one is doing is tricky. #dinosaur #paleoart #noai #procreate
I know it’s been a while since I’ve shared anything. These past couple months have been busy due to a move and projects ramping up at work. Here’s some progress shots of something I’m working on. #dinosaur #raptor #procreate #paleoart #digitalart #illustration
I just saw #nosferatu . I loved it. Eggers has an uncanny ability to infuse authenticity in his films by how well he establishes setting and writes dialog that seems true to the period. I especially love how he takes inspiration from folklore. Anyway, I painted this in @procreate.com
If you look at late Cretaceous North America, there are known remains from around 10,000 individual specimens of edmontosaurus. 2,000 of triceratops. Tyrannosaurus is about 40. That should give you an idea for predator / prey ratios. If you look at my work however, there are only theropods
Planning my next illustration. I’m realizing that I’m leaning a little too hard into the common paleoart trope of exclusively
Depicting animals eating other animals. I think my New Year’s resolution will be balancing out content a bit more. Showing quiet moments and more herbivores.
Pretty much. Dilophosaurus was one the first dinosaurs to really assert a prominent role in the food chain after mass extinction that ended the Triassic period killed off dinosaur’s major rival, the pseudosuchians. And nope. I do not touch AI ever. I actively despise the massive flood AI garbage.
I use a set consisting mostly of my own custom brushes. This includes a few specifically for skin texture. At some point, I’ll prepare it to share online.
Finished. Depicted are animals found in the Kenyata formation dating back 186 million years ago to the early Jurassic period. #dinosaur #dinosaurs #dilophosaurus #pterosaur #procreate #procreateart #digitalart #noai
Thanks. I really love those books. Rod Ruth is one of the illustrators you’re probably thinking of and he always painted very stark landscapes with deeply saturated and dramatic sunsets or dusk. I just like the idea of painting this bygone era of Earth’s history as a strange and foreign place.
A preview of something I’m working on. #dilophosaurus wetherilli. #dinosaur #dinosaurs #procreateart #noai #paleoart
Part II. Long pose figure drawings from my atelier days. They range from 24-32 hours each. Graphite on Bristol board. #figuredrawing #drawing #fineart

I wonder what JM’s been up to.
No matter how many times I look at this drawing it still
Leaves me in awe.
A #horror #illustration I did last year while experimenting with #procreate . I had just seen Skinamarink and was fascinated with the idea of painting a gray #alien through the fog of waking from sleep.
#Godzilla has been everywhere lately. Two new films; both a Japanese and English productions. Plus a series of AppleTV+. I felt taking a crack at Godzilla and since habits always kick in, I ended up giving it more of a theropod posture. #kaiju #procreateart #ipadpro #monster
