Hard to maintain quality control when you're £148m in the hole and praying someone buys you before Christmas..

Being "punk" now means flogging warm, undrinkable pints whilst the founders count their £100m each and private equity waits for the cheque to clear.

Very rebellious..

Five years, £148 million in losses, and a masterclass in why you should never confuse good marketing with good investment terms.

The punk rebellion was just really expensive theatre. Full breakdown below

#Belfast has 49.13 nightclubs per 100,000 people?..that would be ~170 nightclubs. In Belfast..Anyone who's been out here knows that's nonsense. Here's why the numbers in @newsletter.co.uk 'best cities for nightlife' ranking are completely wrong: open.substack.com/pub/casktheo...

Eleven major beers have all landed at exactly 3.4% ABV.. not 3.3%.. not 3.5% exactly 3.4%. Funny how that's 0.1% below the duty threshold that saves brewers millions 👀 casktheory.co.uk/the-great-3-...

The disparity is pretty interesting.. 7 units weekly in Guyana to 52 units in Fiji. Spain 35. Good old US of A reviewed in 2016 and kept it at 25. UK is literally the only country on Earth that landed on 14..I'm gonna lean with the Fijian approach on this one. For research purposes, obviously

Reading a mostly excellent book about effects of diet on blood pressure. Every single point about health effects of diet is carefully footnoted and points to serious research. Until we get to “drinking more than 14 units a week is a well known risk factor.” No footnote. Why would that be, I wonder?
