The analysis provides valuable lessons for the design and operation of Australia’s new ART and international reforms aimed at improving the efficiency of asylum processes.
Using data from Australia's abolished Fast Track review process, we show that fairness enhances efficiency. Our statistical analysis demonstrates that the fast-track process was neither fair nor efficient, and resulted in a system that was both slow and unjust.
