I've been working on an Irish Hiking Scarf for a friend. She got the yarn at a farmers' market in far northern Vermont. It is of unknown origins, but it is probably Jacob or Romney, since it is so stiff and coarse. Dyed with vegetable dyes, one skein down, one to go!

Finished scarf. Noro Silk Garden. This one is for me, I bought the yarn in 2008, started it, and found it in my stash. Now it's done and waiting for winter.

I'm having one of those "Do not cite the old magic to me, Witch. I was there when it was written" moments.

Bach: Was mir behagt, ist nur die muntre Jagd
Mozart: Der Hölle Rache kocht in meinem Herzen

My earworm right now keeps switching between a piece by Mozart and a piece by Bach. I say, "switching," because by humming one of them out loud I can keep the other at bay, but if I'm not humming then both are playing in my head simultaneously, which is very distracting.

Completed scarf for my niece.
Fiber Optic Yarns, colourway Agean Blue.
Superwash Merino wool.
Pattern is Irish Hiking Scarf, a free pattern. I've made this scarf dozens of times, but never for myself. I need to fix that.

I just blocked the account of someone I used to know, who was once a casual friend.
Gay man.
Contra dancer.
Republican.
I can't even.
I can't odd, either.
I just don't want to see the apologetics about the bullshit coming out of Washington.

That's gorgeous! I have a lot of yarn in my stash that is intended for double knitting. I just haven't gotten to it yet. (Counting the days til retirement!)

I gave up the church out of boredom. La la la, like plainchant, dull as dishwater. I haven't considered myself a Catholic since I was 15.

You kind of have to be Catholic to be Pope.
Technically, I could be Pope.
I'd be Pope Fiacre.

New hat!
Plymouth Yarn, 55% baby alpaca, 45% merino wool.
This is so amazingly soft, and I'm glad I've got more of this yarn, since I made it for a friend, I can still make one for myself.

I catalogued it a few years ago, though I've been lazy about updating it. I have a good idea what's in there, lots of Mad Tosh, Neighborhood Yarn, and Dirty Water Dyeworks. Among thousands of others. I will not knit it all before I die.

Dear Helen Mirren tells us that life would be so much easier if we learned to tell people to fuck off at a younger age.

I bought this yarn ca 2008 at the Tent Sale at Webs in Northampton. It was made by an indie dyer, and it's been in my stash for 17 years. I just came across it a couple weeks ago and thought it would make a great scarf. But I have 536 yards, and think a shawl would be better.

I also keep kosher kitchen, even though I'm not Jewish. You don't have to explain or apologise for anything. And dear Helen Mirren says, Life would be a lot easier if we learned to tell people to fuck off a lot earlier.

I've been a vegetarian for 32 years. Post plant based recipes. Post meat based recipes. Smart people won't block you. Idiots will. I've never been one of the meat is murder vegetarians. You eat what you want to eat, and what you put in your stomach is your business.
